REACTIVE MEDIA
Various embodiments of the present invention relate to reactive media including calcium. A reactive media includes a vitrified calcium silicate comprising reactive calcium. Various embodiments of the reactive media described herein are useful for removal of anionic impurities such as phosphate from water.
Continuous carbon sequestration material production methods and systems for practicing the same
Methods of producing solid CO.sub.2 sequestering carbonate materials are provided. Aspects of the methods include introducing a divalent cation source into a flowing aqueous liquid (e.g., a bicarbonate rich product containing liquid) under conditions sufficient such that a non-slurry solid phase CO.sub.2 sequestering carbonate material is produced. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.
Absorbent element, assembly and fabrication process
Absorbent element for spilled petroleum or its derivatives comprising an oil-absorbent, hydrophobic and oleophilic material, essentially based on polyurethane foam, having a specific weight in the range of 15-30 g/l and delimiting open cells and closed cells, the latter being in a percentage equal to or lower than 10% of the total cells. The invention further relates to an assembly comprising a plurality of such elements and a method for fabricating an oil-absorbent material.
Method and Device Intended to Purify Sulphur Oxide Containing Exhaust Gas from Internal Combustion Engines by Means of a Multi-stage Adsorption Method
A method and a device intended to purify pollutants from an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine operated with sulphur containing fuel, in particular of a ship internal combustion engine operated with heavy fuel oil, are provided. Exhaust gas flow is in contact with a solid adsorption agent of the adsorber in a first step and binding in particular acid pollutants, which comprise sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide. The exhaust gas flow is then guided by a second stage of the adsorber realising fine purification of the exhaust gas flow. The adsorption agent of the second stage is used in the first stage as an adsorption agent.
Composition and process for removing chlorides from a gaseous stream
A composition capable of removing chlorides from a gaseous stream and a process of using same. The compositions have sufficient chloride capacity, offer comparable creation of green oil, and have sufficient structural integrity to be utilized as sorbents in a chloride removal process. Generally, the compositions include a first zinc carbonate, a second zinc carbonate different than the first zinc carbonate and an alumina material. The composition has been cured at a temperature between about 149 to 399 C. The first zinc carbonate may comprise hydrozincite and the second zinc carbonate may comprise smithsonite.
Ceramsite produced by using river/lake/sea sludge and seashell powder as raw materials and preparation method thereof
A ceramsite produced by using a river/lake/sea sludge and seashell powder as raw materials and a preparation method thereof are provided. The ceramsite is made of the following raw materials in parts by weight: 15-50 parts of shell powder, 5-15 parts of kaolin, 1-5 parts of peat ash, 15-30 parts of siliceous shale, 15-40 parts of furnace slag, 10-20 parts of fly ash, 15-40 parts of zeolite, 10-30 parts of river/lake/sea sludge, and 10-25 parts of peat. The shell powder is pulverized to a particle size of 60-200 mesh in fineness. A content of silica in the siliceous shale is 87.0%-89.5%. The preparation method of the ceramsite includes the following steps: taking raw materials, pulverizing, stirring, granulating, calcining, and naturally cooling, so as to obtain the ceramsite.
SORBENTS FOR COAL COMBUSTION
Sorbent compositions containing calcium and iodine are added to coal to mitigate the release of mercury and/or other harmful elements into the environment during combustion of coal containing natural levels of mercury.
BIOPOLYMERIC WATER TREATMENT
A method of water treatment includes providing water that includes at least one contaminant. An effective amount of at least one filter media is added to the to the water that includes at least one contaminant. The water and the at least one filter media are agitated to form a homogeneous mixture. A cationic biopolymer is added to the homogeneous mixture of water and the at least one filter media. The water is separated from the at least one contaminant and the at least one filter media.
SORBENT COMPOSITION FOR AN ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR
Powdery calcium-magnesium compound, sorbent composition based on calcium-magnesium for being used in flue gas treatment, compatible with electrostatic precipitators and process for reducing the resistivity of a powdery sorbent composition for flue gas treatment installation comprising an electrostatic precipitator.
Method for NO.SUB.x .uptake using a particulate earth alkali carbonate-comprising material and/or particulate earth alkali phosphate-comprising material
The present invention relates to a process for taking up one or more nitrogen oxide(s) from a gaseous and/or aerosol or liquid medium using at least one particulate earth alkali carbonate-comprising material and/or at least one particulate earth alkali phosphate-comprising material as well as an adsorbing material comprising said at least one particulate earth alkali carbonate-comprising material and/or at least one particulate earth alkali phosphate-comprising material.
