A capsule for the preparation of infusion or instant beverages includes pushing means for lifting a disc, arranged at a bottom of a cup defining an internal volume for containing a food substance to be infused. A central portion is collapsible towards the inside of the cup under a pressure force exerted from outside. The disc is fixed to an external edge with a peelable weld. Collapse of an intermediate portion pushes the disc, which, by lifting itself, detaches from the external edge, forming an outlet passage for the beverage.

Draining the Beverage From a Single-Serve Beverage Pod With or Without an Outlet Piercing Element

A single-serve beverage pod has a filter that is sealed to the rim of container where upon a predetermined force applied to the filter, the filter can separate from the rim to form a gap therebetween to drain the beverage. The rim also has a line of weakness which can also separate upon the application of the predetermined force to form the gap between the filer and the rim to drain the beverage. As such, the pod has two independent means of separating the filter from the rim to form the gap.

A beverage pod can include an outer shell which has a breakaway bottom. When a brewing pin from a beverage brewing machine impacts the breakaway bottom, at least a portion of the breakaway bottom can separate from the outer shell, and the brewing pin can be received by the breakaway bottom. The breakaway bottom can then abut and displace at least a portion of the filter, and/or the breakaway bottom separating from the outer shell can create an outlet through which beverage can be extracted.

A machine for preparing a beverage from a capsule includes a capsule extraction seat, an inlet arrangement for guiding water into the seat and a dispensing arrangement for guiding beverage out of the seat. The dispensing arrangement has a face delimiting a downstream part of the seat, the face bearing one or more raised elements that project upstream and that are configured for forming one or more beverage outlet openings in the outlet membrane of the capsule in the seat. The raised element(s) are fixed relative to or integral with the face and include at least one controllable raised element. The face is associated with an opening control arrangement configured to control the formation of the outlet opening(s) in the outlet membrane by the controllable raised element. The opening control arrangement has at least one neutralizing member that is movable between an operative position and a rest position.

KIT FOR THE PREPARATION OF A BEVERAGE IN A CENTRIFUGAL BREWING DEVICE

Kit for the preparation of a beverage in a centrifugal brewing device comprising a capsule by feeding liquid in the capsule and rotating the capsule along a central axis to produce centrifugal forces on the liquid traversing the capsule thereby forcing the beverage out of the capsule by such centrifugal forces, wherein the capsule comprises containment walls forming a main cavity of central axis containing beverage ingredients; wherein said kit further comprising an insert which is separate from the capsule and comprising a ring-shaped portion intended to form a valve engaging portion engaging against a valve means of the centrifugal brewing device.

A beverage brewing system works with a pod to brew low, medium and high pressure beverages in hot and/or cold format such as coffee and espresso served hot or over ice. The beverage ingredient may be packed within a filter which is enclosed by a container to hermetically seal the filter. The filter has a predetermined number and sized holes to control the pressure within the filter to brew low, medium, and high pressure beverages. The filter is releasably sealed to the container where separating the filter from the container forms a gap to allow the beverage formed within the pod to drain via the gap and directly pour into a mug.

Capsule for the preparation of a beverage containing pellets

The invention relates to a capsule for the preparation of a beverage in a beverage machine by feeding liquid in the capsule and extracting a beverage out of the capsule, wherein the capsule comprises containment walls forming an interior cavity containing beverage precursor; wherein the beverage precursor comprises a combination of non-compacted beverage extractable powder and pellets of compacted beverage extractable powder and wherein the largest dimension of each pellet is at least 3.5 millimeters. The invention enables to confer different beverage characteristics, for example, change the beverage extraction and aroma release kinetics, make more intense beverages and/or improve the beverage flow released from the capsule.
