A roof airbag apparatus for a vehicle in which an airbag deploys downward from the interior roof and protects occupants seated in seats and the airbag has a bending shape by a tether so that the restraint on occupants is secured and the occupants are safely protected.

Roof-mounted occupant restraint system

A restraint system (10) for helping to protect an occupant (60) of a vehicle (20) having a seat (50) for the occupant (60) includes a primary airbag (70) having a stored condition within the roof (32) and being inflatable to a deployed condition extending into the cabin (40) on a first side of the seat (50). A support airbag (76) has a stored condition within the roof (32) and is inflatable to a deployed condition on a second side of the seat (50) opposite the first side. Tethers (120) connect the primary airbag (70) and the support airbag (76) such that occupant (60) penetration into the primary airbag (70) pulls the support airbag (76) into engagement with the seat (50).

VEHICLE CROSSBAR MOVABLE ALONG PILLARS

An assembly for a vehicle includes a first pillar and a second pillar spaced cross-vehicle from the first pillar. The assembly includes a crossbar movably supported by the first pillar and the second pillar. The crossbar is movable along the first pillar and the second pillar from a raised position to a lowered position. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the crossbar.

Console airbag

A vehicle includes an assembly having a middle console and a first airbag and second airbag each supported by and inflatable upwardly from the middle console to an inflated position. The first airbag and the second airbag each have a top distal to the middle console in the inflated position. A tether is external to the first airbag and the second airbag. The tether is connected to the top of the first airbag and the top of the second airbag.

AIRBAG WITH RELEASABLE SECONDARY CHAMBERS

An assembly includes a first seat and a second seat spaced from the first seat. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the first seat. The airbag is inflatable to an inflated position between the seats. The airbag has a main chamber, a pair secondary chambers supported by the main chamber, and a tether releasably connected to the secondary chambers. The secondary chambers are maintained by the tether in an undeployed position relative to the main chamber and the secondary chambers are releasable by the tether to a deployed position in a cross-vehicle direction relative to the main chamber. The assembly includes a computer including a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to identify that an occupant is seated in the first seat, identify that an occupant is seated in the second seat and release the tether based on the identification of the occupants seated seats.

SEAT AIRBAG DEVICE FOR VEHICLE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING OPERATION THEREOF

A seat airbag apparatus for a vehicle and a method of controlling the operation thereof, includes side cushions deployed from the seatback, front cushions configured to be deployed from the side cushions, and inflators for the side cushions and inflators for the front cushions. The deployment operation of the side cushions and the deployment operation of the front cushions are respectively controlled depending on a normal seating mode and a relax mode of an occupant and a side collision and a front collision of the vehicle.
