SYSTEM FOR TREATING EMISSIONS FROM A VEHICLE
20190070331 · 2019-03-07 · ·

A system for treating emissions from a vehicle includes an ozone generator, a first holding tank, and an exhaust vent. The first holding tank is downstream from the ozone generator and defines a volume for liquid waste beneath a void space. The exhaust vent is downstream from the first holding tank and outside of the vehicle. A supply conduit connects the ozone generator to the void space of the first holding tank. An exhaust conduit connects the void space of the first holding tank to the exhaust vent. The ozone generator, supply conduit, void space of the first holding tank, exhaust conduit, and exhaust vent establish a thermal driving head from the ozone generator through the void space of the first holding tank to the exhaust vent.

Aircraft

An aircraft has: an aircraft fuselage, a cabin region formed in the aircraft fuselage, underfloor region separated from the cabin region by a floor partition, and a fresh-water supply system. The fresh-water supply system has a fresh-water provision unit arranged in the underfloor region. The fresh-water supply system has multiple water extraction units which are each arranged in the cabin region, and a water line network branched off from the fresh-water provision unit and extending to the water extraction units. Each water extraction unit has a shut-off valve, a filter unit and a tapping point, which are coupled in series by means of water lines. Each filter unit has an exchangeable water filter with a first filter material designed for filtering particles out of the water flowing through the water filter and with a second filter material designed for softening the water flowing through the water filter.

Negative Pressure Aeration And Organic Growth Suppression System
20190023596 · 2019-01-24 ·

A negative pressure aeration system, created by atmospheric siphon pressure above the waterline and mechanical pump suction below the waterline, which impedes the growth of organic matter. A waterfall in vacuum effect is created within a processing unit that aerates the raw water as it falls through the air chamber of the processing unit housing, which assists in the suppression of organic growth by reducing the contact surface area within the processing unit. A chemical tank allows an anti-fouling chemical to be added to the entire system and a power supply allows flexible electrodes driven by a vacuum to create a further anti-fouling benefit throughout the components of the system.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CLEANING OILY WASTE
20190022555 · 2019-01-24 · ·

A method for cleaning oily waste including water, solids and at least one fuel oil includes removing water from the oily waste to be cleaned so as to produce dried oily waste; introducing dried oily waste into a two-phase centrifugal separator through a liquid inlet; separating the dried oily waste in the two-phase centrifugal separator into a cleaned oil phase and a sludge phase; discharging the sludge phase through a sludge outlet of the two-phase centrifugal separator, and discharging the cleaned oil phase through a liquid outlet of the two-phase centrifugal separator. A system for cleaning oily waste including water, solids and at least one fuel oil is also disclosed.

CLOSED-LOOP BIOREGENERATIVE WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION (ISS) AND FOR SUSTAINABLE MARS EXPLORATION
20190016620 · 2019-01-17 ·

A water purification system comprises a bioreaction subsystem receiving contaminated input effluent and having a gas-lift anaerobic membrane bioreactor removing urea and organic matter to create a first effluent. A light-treatment subsystem receives the first effluent and exposes the first effluent to UV light to create a second effluent free from microorganisms. A reactor subsystem fluidically connects an ammonia-reducing reactor to the UV output and receives UV-treated second effluent and has a struvite regenerator connected to the ammonia-reducing reactor output, separating ammonia from the second effluent in the ammonia-reducing reactor, and outputting the ammonia. A separation subsystem fluidically connects to the reactor output and receives the second effluent substantially free from ammonia and has a continuous electro-deionization device separating brine/salts from the second effluent to produce potable water. A closed-loop includes an ammonia-converting subsystem and a sequential fertilizer producer.

Water recovery system for use in confined spaces

A water recovery system can treat water in a confined space. The wastewater treatment system includes a cation-exchange device in which water to be treated, such as wastewater originating in a space station, water discharged by the human body, water produced by condensing water vapor contained in the air, is directly introduced to a cation-exchange resin and thereby treated by cation exchange; a diamond-electrode electrolysis device in which organic substances, urea, and other nitrogen compounds contained in water discharged from the cation-exchange device are decomposed; a catalytic decomposition device in which the residual organic component is brought into contact with a catalyst to be decomposed; an electrodialysis device in which water discharged from the catalytic decomposition device is treated by electrodialysis to produce desalted water as well as an acid and an alkali; and a mineral adding device in which a mineral is added to the desalted water.

UNDERWATER GAS/LIQUID-LIQUID METHOD AND SEPARATION SYSTEM AND USE OF DEOLING MEMBRANE

Embodiments of the present invention relate to an underwater gas/liquid-liquid modular separation system which enables the disposal of produced water in undersea environment. The underwater gas/liquid-liquid modular system separation consists of a gravitational separator and a water polishing system consisting of deoiling membranes capable of withdrawing the residual oil contained in water. Furthermore, the underwater gas/liquid-liquid modular separation system also features a demulsifier injection which promotes the breakdown of the water-oil emulsion. Embodiments further relate to an underwater gas/liquid-liquid separation method and to the use of deoiling membranes in gas/liquid-underwater liquid separation systems.
