Sickle Cutter System
In a sickle cutting system, it has been found that a significant reduction in average stubble length, which is calculated based on the distance crop is pushed forwardly without cutting occurring, can be obtained by a combination of the features where the length of the cutting edge of each knife blade from a transverse rearmost cutting line at which a cutting action occurs is increased to a length greater than 2.2 inches; the width at the rear of the ledger surface of each guard is increased to greater than 1.2 inches; and the front edge of the blade is formed with an apex to shed crop material to one or other side of the apex.

CUTTING ASSEMBLY FOR AN AGRICULTURAL OR FORESTRY CUTTER
A cutting assembly for an agricultural or forestry cutter, the cutting assembly comprising a lower member and an upper member, which together form at least one finger guard extending along a longitudinal axis, wherein a blade gap is formed between the lower member and the upper member, and a knife, which is guided in a reciprocating manner in the blade gap in a drive direction transverse to the longitudinal axis, and which has at least one cutting edge.

Sickle cutter apparatus for cutting crop
A sickle cutting apparatus having a plurality of knife guards and a sickle bar having a plurality of sickle knife blades driven for reciprocating movement relative to the knife guards. The length of the cutting edge of each knife blade from a transverse rearmost cutting line at which a cutting action occurs is increased to a length greater than 2.2 inches; the width at the rear of the ledger surface of each guard is increased to greater than 1.2 inches; and the front edge of the blade is formed with an apex to shed crop material to one or other side of the apex.

Cutting device for an agricultural harvesting machine
A cutting device for an agricultural harvesting machine including: a drive; a transmission arrangement having an input element drivingly connected to the drive and driven reciprocatingly by the drive along an input travel; and a knife having a plurality of cutting edges, the knife being drivingly connected to and driven by an output element of the transmission arrangement along an output travel longer than the input travel, is driven in a reciprocating motion in such a way that the cutting edges of the knife pass in each case at least two counter-cutting edges of the cutting device when moving in one direction along the entire output travel.
