The invention is directed to a device that allows trolled lures (e.g., ballyhoo) to be used with decreased or eliminated snagging of the lure on grasses and weeds present in the water. The device includes a hollow, tubular body with a nose operably connected to a series of ribs via upper and/or lower arms. The connection of the ribs and arms create a tapered shape that mimics the head portion of an artificial or dead bait lure. The device further includes an upper channel that spans the length of the device, allowing fishing line to pass therethrough during use. One end of a hook guard (e.g., artificial worm) attaches to a peg positioned on the lower device arm. The second end of the hook guard slips over the point and barb of the fishing hook present on the lure. As a result, the sharp ends of the lure hook are prevented from being caught or hung by sargassum grass and other marine grasses (bay grass, sea grass, turtle grass, etc.).

The weedless lure body collapses upon itself in use for retrieval, with a fish on the hook. A casting lure includes a flexible tubing housing encapsulating a flexible braided wire. One end is attached to an interior side of an attachment end of the wire within the flexible tubing housing. A second end of the wire positioned below the first end is attached to a shank of a hook, the flexible tubing including an opening through which the barbed end of the hook extends.

The present invention discloses a fishing lure for knotless line attachment. The fishing lure comprises a nose portion and a tail portion configured to be assembled together. The nose portion includes a proximal hole sized to receive a fishing line. A funnel is formed in the tail portion, and aligned with the proximal hole to guide the fishing line into a groove formed in the tail portion. The groove extends from a top of the tail portion to a gap defined between the nose portion and the tail portion when assembled. A coupling mechanism, such as a threaded engagement, enables rotation or movement of the nose portion relative to the tail portion to securely clamp the fishing line without requiring a knot. The lure further comprises radial grippers to engage the line, wings to guide the line, and an optional flexible weed guard to reduce snagging on underwater debris.
