Capillary assisted vitrification processes and devices
Disclosed are devices and methods for non-cryogenic vitrification of biological materials that include the steps of providing one or more capillary channels of which a first opening is operably in contact with a moisture containing vitrification mixture made of a biological material and a vitrification agent.
A CHEMICAL DELIVERY SYSTEM, DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF
Chemical delivery systems, device and methods are provided. A chemical delivery system may include a vessel and a chip. The vessel may include a groove configured to hold a solution. The groove includes an open surface, the open surface having a first surface area. The solution includes a target material. The chip includes a first side, a second side opposing the first side, and a bottom side. The chip includes one or more chambers configured to hold one or more chemicals, the one or more chambers including a bottom surface having a second surface area. The second surface area is greater than the first surface area. When one of the one or more chambers is positioned over the groove, the respective chemical in the chamber moves into the solution in the groove. The system increases the ease, stability, and reliability of a chemical delivery process.
Specimen processing systems and related methods
A specimen processing system includes a plate for supporting a specimen system, wherein the specimen system includes a container and a specimen contained therein. The specimen processing system further includes a camera disposed above the plate and configured to generate images of the specimen system, a light source disposed beneath the plate for radiating light towards the plate, a light stop for blocking a portion of the light from reaching the specimen system to produce darkfield illumination of the specimen at the camera, and one or more processors electronically coupled to the camera and configured to track a position of the specimen within the specimen container during a specimen processing protocol based on the images.
APPARATUS FOR THE COMBINED INCUBATION AND VITRIFICATION OF A BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL
An apparatus, that relates to the field of in vitro fertilization, is provided for the combined incubation and vitrification of a biological material. The apparatus can be configured to allow for automatic incubation and vitrification of a viable biological material. Thereby predetermined protocols for handling the biological material can be performed precisely and accurately thus avoiding errors and deviations from the intended protocol, as caused by manual human intervention.
Skin sample culture apparatus
A skin sample culture apparatus which has a base frame, with a skin sample receiving surface upon which at least part of the skin sample may be placed and which extends across an area defined by the shape of the frame. A securing member which is releasably connectable to the base frame and a grip which holds the skin sample under tension. The apparatus may include a tensioner to hold the sample under tension and means for introducing a fluid to the upper or lower surface of the sample.
LOW-TEMPERATURE STORAGE CONTAINER
The present invention aims at providing a low-temperature storage container that is highly insulated and can therefore reduce the amount of cooling medium consumption. The low-temperature storage container of the present invention includes a cylindrical container body having an opening and a storage compartment, and a plurality of holding shelves provided in the storage compartment, on which storage trays for holding storage objects are placed. The storage compartment includes a plurality of holding zones arranged in a circumferential direction of the container body, where the storage trays are held, and at least one passage zone where the storage trays pass. The holding shelves are configured as parts of a plurality of rack units that are sections arranged in a circumferential direction of the container body.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PRESERVING OR INCREASING PLATELET FUNCTION
Among the various aspects of the present disclosure is the provision of compositions and methods for platelet storage supplementation with an amino acid, such as taurine.
Endovascular apparatus for perfusing organs in a body
In one representative embodiment, a method of perfusing organs in a patient's body is provided. The method comprises isolating the visceral arteries and the visceral veins from blood circulating through the patient's heart and perfusing the visceral arteries, the visceral veins, and the abdominal organs with a perfusion fluid that is fluidly separated from the blood circulating through the patient's heart. While the visceral arteries and the visceral veins are isolated, and the visceral arteries, the visceral veins, and the abdominal organs are being perfused, the patient's blood is allowed to continue to circulate through the heart.
Apparatus and method for ex vivo lung ventilation with a varying exterior pressure
In a method of ventilating excised lungs, a ventilation gas is supplied to an airway of a lung and a vacuum is formed around the lung. A quality of the vacuum is varied between a lower level and a higher level to cause the lung to breathe, while the pressure of the ventilation gas supplied to the airway is regulated to maintain a positive airway pressure in the airway of the lung. The vacuum may be cyclically varied between the two vacuum levels. The levels may be maintained substantially constant over a period of time, or one or both of the lower and higher levels may be adjusted during ventilation. The lung may be placed in a sealed chamber, and a vacuum is formed in the chamber around the lung.
Shock absorbing container to protect cryopreserved biological material
A shock absorbing container to protect cryogenically frozen biological material includes an outer case, which includes a first outer panel and a second outer panel, the first outer panel and the second outer panel movable relative to each other between a closed position and an open position, the first outer panel and the second outer panel defining a storage space in the closed position, the first outer panel having a first side facing the storage space, the second outer panel having a first side facing the storage space, wherein moving the first outer panel and the second outer panel into the open position creates or enlarges an opening to access the storage space. A first foam panel is on the first side of the first outer panel, and a second foam panel on the first side of the second outer panel.
