Capillary assisted vitrification processes and devices
Disclosed are devices and methods for non-cryogenic vitrification of biological materials that include the steps of providing one or more capillary channels of which a first opening is operably in contact with a moisture containing vitrification mixture made of a biological material and a vitrification agent.
Freeze/thaw containment system for flexible pouch filled with biopharmaceutical fluid, and method of assembling a freeze/thaw containment system, using a protecting body
A freeze/thaw containment system is provided, having a protecting body and a flexible pouch, of a first capacity, protected by two plates of the protecting body. The two plates are attached together at a peripheral margin and form a rectangular protecting body. The peripheral margin is mounted in a stationary frame and allowed to be displaced inwardly during filling of the pouch, while the protecting body extends generally planar to sandwich and constrain the pouch. One amongst the stationary frame and the protecting body includes fastening members for attachment of a casing configured for storing the bag, in order to have the bag fastened parallel to the protecting body. Two fasteners for cooperating with the fastening members are distributed around a bag containing part of a second capacity at least ten times inferior to the first capacity. Same biopharmaceutical composition is contained in the pouch and in the bag.
Anaerobic Blood Storage Containers
A blood storage container for the anaerobic storage of blood, having enhanced sealing methods and materials for the preservation of stored blood is provided.
Skin sample culture apparatus
A skin sample culture apparatus which has a base frame, with a skin sample receiving surface upon which at least part of the skin sample may be placed and which extends across an area defined by the shape of the frame. A securing member which is releasably connectable to the base frame and a grip which holds the skin sample under tension. The apparatus may include a tensioner to hold the sample under tension and means for introducing a fluid to the upper or lower surface of the sample.
FREEZING BAG CONTAINER
A container for containing a freezing bag filled with biological tissue and for cooling and warming the freezing bag. The container includes a main body possessing an inner surface, a first side surface and a second side surface positioned opposite the first side surface. The main body is substantially rectangular parallelepiped shaped. The container includes at least one opening in at least one of the first side surface and the second side surface of the container, and at least two ridges spaced apart from one another on the inner surface of the container to create an air gap between the spaced apart ridges, the inner surface of the container and the outer surface of the freezing bag.
Materials and methods for processing blood samples
Provided herein are materials and methods relating to cell-free DNA. In particular, the technology relates to methods and materials for the preparation and handling of blood samples for future use in applications involving cell-free DNA.
System and method for bodily fluid capture and preservation
System and associated method for capturing, preserving, and transporting a bodily fluid, including a collection jar having a base body, a lid body, and a cartridge having a plunger therein and disposed in the lid body, the cartridge housing a preservative when the plunger is in a first plunger position and permitting a release of the preservative into an internal cavity of the collection jar when the plunger is in a second plunger position, and a transportation packaging having an outer container, at least one insulation foam support, at least one phase change material bottle, and at least one collection jar holding tray, where the phase change material bottle has an indented portion corresponding to an indented portion of the collection jar holding tray, and where the collection jar is configured for placement in the at least one collection jar holding tray during transportation.
Storage/containement unit for flexible pouch filled with biopharmaceutical fluid, and method of assembling a freeze/thaw containment system, using a protecting body of controlled deformation
A flexible pouch is placed in a stack provided with two plates forming a protecting body to sandwich and constrain the flexible pouch. At opposite margin portions, the protecting body has slots cooperating with positioning members of an outer shell device belonging to the stack. Between the shell parts, the plates can move during filling of the pouch and the margin portions shrink inwardly in a protecting body plane. Some of the positioning members act as stoppers, in order to have lower clearance range for shrink strokes of the protecting body in a middle part thereof, as compared to a higher clearance range at respective longitudinal end parts of the two opposite margin portions. A higher constraining effect can be obtained in a center of the pouch, to limit maximum thickness of its content, which is of interest for managing freeze/thaw operations of biopharmaceutical materials contained in the pouch.
SAMPLE CONTAINER WITH PEELABLE SEAL AND ACCESS PORT
An apparatus includes a flexible container and a port. The container includes a first layer coupled to a second layer to define a storage volume within which a tissue specimen can be contained. The first layer has a first stiffness and the second layer has a second stiffness. An edge of the first layer is spaced apart from an edge of the second layer to define an opening into the storage volume. The edges of the first and second layer form a peelable seal that hermetically seals the storage volume such that the first layer can be peeled away from the second layer to expose the storage volume. The port is coupled to the flexible container and allows fluid communication between the storage volume and an external volume.
CONTAINER, CLOSURE LID, AND VESSEL FOR TRANSPLANT OBJECTS, AND METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PROVIDING THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURE DATA AND FOR STERILIZING A TRANSPLANT OBJECT
The invention relates to a container (1) for holding a transplant object (2) and to a closure lid (4) and a vessel (3) for such a container (1). To facilitate an improved and reliable analysis and treatment of transplant objects (2), the intention being to implement particularly sparing handling, which is also protected against environmental influences, of the transplant object (2), it is proposed that the container (1) be transmissive for radiation that facilitates radiological imaging and/or a sterilization by means of ionizing radiation of the transplant object (2) held in the container (1) and that the closure lid (4) and/or the vessel (3) have one or more affixment structures (5) for fastening the transplant object (2) in the container (1). Moreover, a method and a system for providing three-dimensional structure data of a transplant object are proposed, by means of which the information obtained by the analysis is rendered better usable for medical staff. Moreover, a method and a system for sterilizing a transplant object (2) by means of ionizing radiation are described.
