Method for drying filter rods
The method for drying filter rods comprises the steps of providing a filter rod, providing a support surface for receiving the filter rod and guiding the filter rod on the support surface by a guide element arranged above the support surface. The method further comprises the step of supplying a gas stream of compressed gas having a pressure between 0 and 6 bar to the filter rod through the guide element when the filter rod is transported along the support surface, before wrapping the filter rod with a wrapping material.
TOBACCO SMOKE FILTER
A tobacco smoke filter or filter element comprising: a longitudinally extending core which includes first and second longitudinally extending rods of tobacco smoke filtering material, wherein the first rod of tobacco smoke filtering material is distanced longitudinally from the second rod of tobacco smoke filtering material; a wrapper engaged around the first and second longitudinally extending rods such that the wrapper defines a cavity between the first and second rods of tobacco smoke filtering material; and at least one receptacle for an additive located in the cavity, wherein the maximum width or diameter of the receptacle for an additive is less than half the maximum diameter of the cavity and the void space remaining in the cavity is greater than 50% of the volume of the cavity, the receptacle being free to move within the cavity.
FILTER ELEMENT, MOUTHPIECE AND COOLING ELEMENT
There is disclosed a mouth piece, filter element or cooling element 100 comprising: a longitudinally extending core of filtering material 102; one or more channels 104 extending longitudinally from an end of the core 102; wherein the or each channel 104 has a non-circular transverse cross section which varies in the longitudinal direction by rotating about a longitudinal axis I of the mouth piece, filter element or cooling element 100.
Biodegradable filter with improved taste
A filter for a smoking article has improved biodegradability and improved taste during smoking of the smoking article. The filter includes a segment having a filtration substrate including natural cellulose fibres, and a wrapper at least partly surrounding the segment. The filtration substrate contains a composition including an additive for reducing phenols.
Methods of assembling filters and spacing drum systems thereof
A system includes system at least one dispenser configured to dispense to dispense a plurality of segments on a first conveying path and a spacing drum configured to receive a number of the plurality of segments per revolution of the drum and configured to release the number of segments on a second conveying path at a segment-release spacing and a segment-release speed along the conveying path, the number of the plurality of segments being at least three and the number of segments released by the spacing drum forming a filter element.
Filter component
The present invention relates to a filter component comprising a plug of filter material comprising a body of a first filtering material and at least one element of a second filtering material, wherein the at least one element of the second filtering material is inserted in the body of a first filtering material, and wherein a volume ratio between a volume of the at least one element of a second filtering material and a volume of the plug is comprised between about 0.3 and about 0.8.
PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING FILTER ELEMENTS SUITABLE FOR USE IN SMOKING ARTICLES
A process for producing a filter element suitable for use in smoking articles may include: embedding a bundle of cellulose acetate fibers with an aqueous suspension of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) to obtain a wet bundle of the cellulose acetate fibers covered by the aqueous suspension of the PHA; shaping the wet bundle in a form of a continuous elongated element; heating the continuous elongated element to temperature greater than or equal to 140° C. and less than or equal to 180° C. for time sufficient to melt the PHA and to evaporate water from the continuous elongated element; cooling the heated continuous elongated element to obtain crystallization of the PHA; and cutting the so-obtained continuous elongated element into segments of predetermined length.
COOLING ELEMENT
A cooling element comprising a longitudinally extending core including a plurality of longitudinally extending bores wherein each bore has a diameter ≥0.8 mm.
Method for Manufacturing a Smoking Article Filter
A method for producing filters for smoking articles includes: providing a filter rod, the filter rod having a cylinder shape with a first filter rod end, a second filter rod end and a circumferential filter rod surface; providing an outer wrapper; wrapping the outer wrapper around the filter rod along a filter rod circumferential direction covering at least parts of the circumferential filter rod surface; obtaining a wrapped filter rod; cutting the wrapped filter rod perpendicular to a filter rod longitudinal direction into outer and inner wrapped filter rod segments, wherein first and second outer wrapped filter rod segments include the first and second filter rod ends, respectively, and have a length being less than 10% of a total length of the filter rod and/or less than 10 mm; and obtaining the inner wrapped filter rod segments as the filters and disposing the outer wrapped filter rod segments.
Filter For Smoking or Vaping Article Comprising a Two-Layer Material
The invention provides a material which comprises a paper substrate and a nonwoven substrate having a low density which can be used as filter for a smoking or vaping article.
