LOWER PROTECTIVE CAGE FOR A HELMET AND HELMET HAVING SAME
A helmet has an outer shell having a front portion, left and right lateral portions, a top portion and a rear portion. A visor is positioned to protect a user's eyes and is connected to the outer shell. A lower protective cage for protecting a lower portion of the user's face includes: a left connector and a right connector adjustably connected to the left lateral portion and the right lateral portion of the outer shell respectively so that a position of the lower protective cage relative to the outer shell is adjustable via connection of the left and right connectors to the outer shell; and a cage portion extending laterally between the left and right connectors, the cage portion being positioned so as to protect the lower portion of the user's face, at least a majority of the cage portion extending lower than the visor.

Selectively attachable visors for field masks
A visor that can be removably attached to a variety of field masks, including those used in softball and baseball and other sports, to protect the user from weather elements and minimize sun damage while not affecting play and withstanding movement. In some embodiments, the visor may include a curvilinear base having at least one recess. The visor may additionally include a brim attached to, or formed with, the base. The visor may further include a fastener received in the at least one recess, where the fastener is configured to secure the visor to the field mask.
ATTACHMENT FEATURES FOR BATTING HELMETS
A batting helmet system includes sockets facing the interior region of the helmet shell to receive clip elements for holding a chin strap or to receive plate elements for supporting a face protector. A clip element includes a base portion, a hook portion extending from the base portion, and a projection positioned on an end of the hook portion and extending toward the base portion. The base portion may include a strap retainer. When the clip element is installed, the clip element extends from the interior of the helmet to the exterior of the helmet through an opening in the helmet shell, so that the strap retainer is positioned outside the helmet shell. A face protector may include plate elements for positioning in one or more of the sockets. Plate elements and sockets may have corresponding geometries that limit rotation of the face protector relative to the helmet shell.
