Lacing engine for automated footwear platform
Systems and apparatus related to footwear including a modular lacing engine are discussed. In an example, a modular footwear apparatus including an upper portion, a lower portion, and a lacing engine is described. The upper portion can include a lace to adjust fit of the upper portion against a foot, the lace adjustable between a first position and a second position based at least in part on manipulation of an effective length of the lace. The lower portion can include a mid-sole and an out-sole, and the lower portion can be coupled to the upper portion at the mid-sole. The lacing engine can include a top-loading lace spool to engage a loop of the lace to enable manipulation of the effective length of the lace through rotation of the lace spool, the lacing engine received within a cavity in the lower portion.
Article of footwear with a ball contacting surface
An article of footwear with a ball contacting surface is disclosed. The ball contacting surface includes a raised peak member at the top and gripping members along a medial side. The ball contacting surface enhances the ability of a wearer to kick a ball with a low trajectory and to control the ball.
Toe guard assembly
A toe guard assembly includes a cup that is elongated to insertably receive a toe of an article of footwear. The cup is comprised of a rigid material to protect the toe from impact energy. Each of a pair of engagements extends away from the cup and the engagements are positioned on opposing sides of the cup from each other. A belt is coupled to a respective one of the engagements on the cup and the belt can be extended around a heel of the article of footwear. The belt is releasably matable to a respective one of the engagement to retain the cup on the toe of the article of footwear.
METATARSAL GUARD FOR FOOTWEAR
Safety footwear configured to provide protection to the instep region and/or metatarsals of a wearer. The footwear includes a metatarsal guard having a rigid central spine, multiple ridge elements that extend transversely to the spine across an instep of the footwear, and a cushion element joined with the central spine that extends outward under the multiple ridge elements. The ridge elements are raised to deflect impact forces imparted on the metatarsal guard and the cushion element provides enhanced cushioning to a foot of a wearer of the footwear. With these constructions, the footwear remains flexible enough to provide enhanced mobility to a wearer.

ARTICLES OF FOOTWEAR WITH WEAR-RESISTANT TOE SHIELD AND MANUFACTURING PROCESSES FOR MAKING THE SAME
Presented are wear-resistant polymeric shields for reinforcing segments of footwear, methods for making/using such shields, and shoes with a high-strength, abrasion-resistant thermoplastic toe shield covering the shoe's front face. An athletic shoe includes an upper with an outer shell that receives a user's foot. A forefoot region of the upper's outer shell includes a toe box, while the forefoot and midfoot regions include a vamp. A sole structure is attached to the upper to support the user's foot. The sole structure includes a ground-engaging outsole and an outer-perimeter sidewall. A toe shield is bonded to and projects from outward-facing portions of the upper and sole structure. The toe shield is a single-piece structure fabricated from an abrasion-resistant, flexible thermoplastic copolymer. The toe shield may extend across forward portions of the vamp and toe box, a forward portion of the sole's sidewall, and a forward edge of the outsole's ground-facing surface.
Shoe convertible from a conventional shoe into a safety shoe with a casing
A system for protecting the toes comprises a pair of shoes with certain adaptations so that a removable portable element with a casing can be fitted thereto and removed therefrom easily and quickly, by means of three lower tabstwo side tabs and one front tabwhich fit to the sole of the shoe, and two strapsan inner strap and an outer strapwhich fasten to the shoe. The characteristics the shoe and removable element mean that when the removable element is fitted, it does not extend beyond the limits of the footprint, and therefore comfort and aesthetics are not compromised when the shoes are worn. The system also has the flexibility of being able to have a wide range of standardized designs per model and size, which can then be interchanged with each other in order to increase the design options for the user.
