COIL WIRE FOR NAVIGATION IN VASCULAR TORTUOSITY AND METHODS OF USING THE COIL WIRE
A coil wire and method of using the coil wire to navigate blood vessels are provided. The coil wire is configured to facilitate coaxial catheter advancement over at least a part of the length of the coil wire. Existing catheters utilize the distal tip of a guidewire to select the vessel origins by shaping it (either during fabrication or by the operating physician) in such a way that the tip will point into the desired vessel as the wire is advanced. The coil wire of the present disclosure functions in a unique manner: its distal tip resumes a pre-formed three-dimensional coil configuration as it is expressed from the catheter. This shape catches the flow of moving blood and propels the coil wire forward while unfurling the coil. As the coil wire is advanced, the small outer diameter of the unfurled coil allows it to pass deep into the selected vessel.
System for treating embolism and associated devices and methods
Systems and methods for the intravascular treatment of clot material within a blood vessel of a human patient are disclosed herein. A method in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include, for example, positioning a distal portion of a catheter proximate to the clot material within the blood vessel. The method can further include coupling a pressure source to the catheter via a tubing subsystem including a valve or other fluid control device and, while the valve is closed, activating the pressure source to charge a vacuum. The valve can then be opened to apply the vacuum to the catheter to thereby aspirate at least a portion of the clot material from the blood vessel and into the catheter.
Percutaneous method and device to treat dissections
Some embodiments are directed to methods and systems for percutaneously treating dissections in a patient's vasculature, such as, without limitation, the aorta. The method can include deploying a catheter containing a collapsed anchoring element, frame, and cover through a first vessel to an entry point of the dissection. The anchoring element can be secured to the second branch vessel. The frame can be expanded in the first branch vessel. The cover can be unfolded over at least a portion of the entry point. The cover then reduces blood flow into the entry point.
Split balloon assist device and method for using the same
A method is disclosed, including joining a balloon to a resilient inner body of a balloon assist device, the balloon comprising an axial length shorter than an axial length of the inner body; expanding a slit in the resilient inner body of the balloon assist device; inserting a catheter through the slit; and releasing the slit to contract the balloon assist device around the catheter.
Ballstent device and methods of use
What is disclosed are medical devices comprising a rounded, thin-walled, expandable metal structure (“ballstent”) and a flexible, elongated delivery device (“delivery catheter”) and systems and methods of use for treating saccular vascular aneurysms with the medical devices. Ballstents comprised of gold, platinum, or silver that can be compressed, positioned in the lumen of an aneurysm, and expanded to conform to the shape of the aneurysm are disclosed. The external surface of ballstents can be configured to promote local thrombosis and to promote the growth of tissue into and around the wall of the ballstent in order to seal the aneurysm and fix the ballstent in place in the aneurysm. The wall of the ballstent can also be configured to release drugs or pharmacologically active molecules, such as those that promote thrombosis, cell proliferation, extracellular matrix deposition, and tissue growth.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING FOAM
The present invention relates to a device and method for making sclerosing foam, which is useful in the treatment of varicose veins and other venous conditions. The device comprises a continuous pathway that is at least partly formed of flexible or compressible material and that comprises a foam generating structure within the continuous pathway; the foam generating structure being formed of two or more elements, wherein each element defines at least one passageway of cross sectional area 1 μm2 to 10 mm2 and said two or more elements being arranged in series; a port which allows introduction of material into or extraction of material out of the continuous pathway; and a liquid pathway that is at least partly formed of flexible or compressible material and is arranged to deliver liquid into the foam generating structure between a first and second element of the foam generating structure.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR CLOSURE OF TRANSVASCULAR OR TRANSCAMERAL ACCESS PORTS
The present disclosure provides a variety of prostheses, delivery systems and techniques to facilitate closure of transvascular or transcameral access ports. Various embodiments of prostheses are provided including a plurality of radially expandable discs that can be filled with material to facilitate coagulation and to reduce or stop leakage from punctures in vessel walls.
IMPLANTABLE DAMPING DEVICES FOR TREATING DEMENTIA AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
Devices, systems, and methods for reducing stress on a blood vessel are disclosed herein. A damping device configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include an anchoring member coupled to a flexible, compliant damping member including a generally tubular sidewall having an outer surface, an inner surface defining a lumen configured to direct blood flow, a first end portion and a second end portion, and a damping region between the first and second end portions. The inner and outer surfaces of the damping member can be spaced apart by a distance that is greater at the damping region than at either of the first or second end portions. When blood flows through the damping member during systole, the damping member absorbs a portion of the pulsatile energy of the blood, thereby reducing a magnitude of the pulse pressure transmitted to a portion of the blood vessel distal to the damping device.
Thermal detachment system for implantable devices
The present invention provides for implant device delivery apparatuses and related methods of use. The delivery systems of the present invention incorporate a stretch resistant tube that advantageously makes the implant device, such as an embolic coil, stretch resistant while a delivery system is being used to position the implant device at a desired target site.
METHODS FOR ANEURYSM TREATMENT
Disclosed herein is a method of producing high purity pentagalloyl glucose (PGG), analogues or derivatives thereof, at least 99.9% pure, by washing with dimethyl ether. PGG may be provided in a kit, including a hydrolyzer for dissolving the PGG and a saline solution. Also disclosed herein is a device for delivery of a therapeutic solution to a blood vessel. The device may be a catheter having an upstream balloon and a downstream balloon. The upstream balloon may be expanded to anchor the catheter and occlude antegrade blood flow. The downstream balloon may be expanded to occlude retrograde blood flow, creating a sealed volume within the blood vessel. The downstream balloon may have pores configured to deliver a therapeutic inflation solution into the sealed volume or a portion thereof. The downstream balloon may be expanded by the expansion of a balloon disposed inside the downstream balloon.
