ORTHOPEDIC SCREWS AND PROSTHESES FOR USE WITH POLYMER CABLES
Orthopedic screws and prostheses for use with polymer cables are disclosed herein. An orthopedic screw is configured to retain a polymer cable (12) when the polymer cable is positioned in a thru hole (5) present in the body of said orthopedic screw. This may be accomplished by an orthopedic screw comprising a set screw and a complimentary threaded hole, wherein the threaded hole intersects the thru hole and wherein the polymer cable is secured in the thru hole by tightening the set screw. In an embodiment, the threaded hole extends beyond the thru hole.
CONNECTOR IMPLANT FOR EXTENDING A SPINAL CONSTRUCT
It is an object of the present invention to overcome at least some of the problems associated with elongating an existing pedicle screw and rod construct. To this end, there is proposed a spinal rod assembly for elongating an in situ spinal posterior rod system by connecting the spinal rod construct to a head of an in situ bone fastener. The spinal rod assembly according to one embodiment comprises a rod connector and at least one rod fastener, wherein the rod connector comprises a first connector head and a second connector head, connected by an elongated bar, and forming a space between the first and second connector heads. The first connector head comprises a first pocket for receiving a first rod end, while the second connector head comprises a second pocket for receiving a second rod end.
External adjustment device
An external adjustment device for non-invasively adjusting an implant, the external adjustment device including a controller in communication with an actuator associated with the adjustable implant and a sensor configured to receive information from or about the adjustable implant. The external adjustment device may further comprise a power source and a display. According to one exemplary embodiment, the external adjustment device comprises a magnetic element configured to generate a rotating magnetic field; and a driver configured to drive the magnetic element to generate the rotating magnetic field and configured to rotate a permanent magnet of an adjustable implant, wherein upon placing the external adjustment device in proximity to an adjustable implant having a permanent magnet the magnetic element is configured to magnetically couple with the permanent magnet, and wherein the external adjustment device is configured to non-invasively determine one or more of a magnetic coupling state and a stalled state of the magnetic element and the permanent magnet disposed within the adjustable implant.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR INSERTING A VERTEBRAL FIXATION MEMBER
Devices, systems, and methods for inserting a vertebral stabilization member, such as a rod. The insertion device includes an outer guide tube, a pin assembly including a pin and a pusher member extending therethrough. The insertion device is configured to actuate a rod between a first orientation and a second orientation angled with respect to the first orientation in order to position the rod in an appropriate location for attachment to bone.
Spinal implant packaging
A spinal implant package includes a tray having a body including spaced apart first and second cavities. The body includes a third cavity between the first and second cavities. The tray includes a first connecting feature that is movable relative to the body. A lid is coupled to the tray by a hinge. The lid includes a second connecting feature that is movable between a first position in which a bottom surface of the second connecting feature directly engages a top surface of the first connecting feature and a second position in which a top surface of the second connecting feature directly engages a bottom surface of the first connecting feature to provisionally fix the lid to the tray.
Expandable rod system to treat scoliosis and method of using the same
Correction of a scoliotic curve in a spine comprises the steps of implanting an expanding rod isolated completely under the skin and attached to selected portions of the scoliotic curve of the spine at opposing ends of the rod; and producing a controlled force by means of expansion of the rod over at an extended time period under externa control until a desire spinal curve is obtained. An incremental force is generated to stretch the scoliotic curve of the spine between the selected portions where attachment of the rod is defined. The controlled force is provided steadily for at least one month or alternatively 1-3 months. Multiple rods may be employed each associated with a different scoliotic curve of the spine or a different portion of the scoliotic curve.
Expandable polyaxial spinal system
A spinal pedicle screw system includes distractions rods and has the ability to be distracted after the screws are inserted into the pedicle and maintain polyaxial motion via polyaxial joints.
Revision connectors, systems and methods thereof
Connector assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A connector has a first end that clamps to a first rod in an existing construct and a second end, connected to the first end, that clamps to a second rod in a new construct such that the new construct can be extended from the existing construct at an adjacent level as the existing construct.
THREADED PLUGS WITH SPLAY RESISTING THREAD FORMS FOR BONE ANCHOR RECEIVERS
A receiver assembly for securing an elongate rod to a bone anchor includes a receiver having a channel configured to receive the elongate rod and a helically wound receiver guide and advancement structure formed into interior surfaces of the receiver. The receiver assembly further includes a threaded plug configured for positioning within the channel to secure the elongate rod to the receiver in a locked configuration, with the threaded plug having a lower axially protruding portion configured to compress the rod so as to prevent rotational and axial movement between the rod and the receiver in the locked configuration.
Modular spine stabilization system and associated instruments
An implantable, modular spine stabilization system that allows for multi-level treatment of the spine by providing either rigid fixation or dynamic stabilization at different levels to be treated is provided. This modular spine stabilization system may be configured to span multiple spine levels, and have a curvature that closely matches the curvature of the spine over those multiple levels to be treated. Further, the modular spine stabilization system allows adjustment of the curvature of the overall system such that the system may be adapted for a patient for a customized fit. Instruments are also provided for the assembly and/or implantation of the modular spine stabilization system. The associated instruments may include instruments for adjusting the curvature of the system to the patient, and for implanting the curved system into the patient. The instruments may be configured for implantation of the system in a minimally invasive surgery.
