INTERVERTEBRAL DEVICES
An anterior lumbar interbody fusion device comprising a superior component, an inferior component, and a locking mechanism. The superior component bottom side and the inferior component top side oppose each other when these are received in the intervertebral space whereby their external sides abut against the respective vertebra, thereby coupling force between the latter. The components inter-engage with each other whereby they are constrained to move in an anterior-posterior direction relative to each other and resistance is presented to movement relative to each other in each of a direction of separation and a direction orthogonal to the anterior-posterior direction and to the direction of separation. The locking mechanism allows for relative movement of the components in the anterior-posterior direction which increases an extent of their overlap and presents resistance to movement of the at least one of the component in the anterior-posterior direction which decreases an extent of their overlap, for instance with a mechanism such as protrusions shaped to engage with set of recesses and sprung cantilever beams forming a ratchet mechanism. Optionally, the fusion device may comprise or lack a core component received between said superior and inferior components.
INTERVERTEBRAL DEVICES
An intervertebral fusion device comprises a superior component, an inferior component, and a core component. The superior and inferior components are received between first and second vertebrae whereby a superior component top side of the superior component abuts against the first vertebra, and an inferior component bottom side of the inferior component abuts against the second vertebra. The core component is inserted between the superior and inferior components to determine a height of the intervertebral fusion device. First and second core profiles of the core component cooperate respectively with a first component profile of the superior component and a second component profile of the inferior component during insertion of the core component to guide the core component relative to the superior and inferior components. First and second core formations of the core component inter-engage respectively with a first component formation of the inferior component and a second component formation of the superior component to present a barrier to separation of the core component, the inferior component, and the superior component. A height of the intervertebral fusion device decreases in a coronal direction from a first lateral side to a second lateral side of the intervertebral fusion device.
Coated hemi-prosthesis implant
A hemi-prosthesis implant comprises a replacement-joint part with an articulation surface for tribological pairing with a joint surface of a natural joint counterpart. The articulation surface is embodied with a coating applied on a substrate. The substrate provides a relief for the adhesion of the coating. The relief may comprise one or more of a plurality of grooves, a plurality of teeth, a ribbing, and a roughened surface. The relief may be embodied entirely or partially outside the articulation surface. The replacement joint part may optionally comprise a ventilation feature, and the articulation surface may be formed by injection molding on the substrate. The hemi-prosthesis implant may be part of an implant set that includes both a hemi-prosthesis implant and a total prosthesis implant, either of which can be chosen intraoperatively.
CONNECTION STRUCTURE OF POROUS SURFACE STRUCTURE AND SUBSTRATE, PREPARATION METHOD FOR CONNECTION STRUCTURE, AND PROSTHESIS
The present invention discloses a connected structure of a porous surface structure and a substrate, a method for preparing the same, and a prosthesis of the same. The connected structure consists of a pre-connected or integrally formed composite body of a porous surface structure and an intermediate; and a substrate, which is connected to said intermediate to achieve the connection of said composite body to the said substrate; the composite body comprising a first composite region corresponding to a first stiffness; a remaining composite region in the composite body other than the first composite region, which at least contains a second composite region corresponding to a second stiffness; and the first stiffness is less than the second stiffness. The present invention achieves a fastened connection between the composite and the substrate and largely maintains the mechanical properties of the substrate; and it provides a prosthesis with excellent bone ingrowth properties and that the strength of the substrate is not substantially affected.
Metal-ceramic composite joint prosthesis and applications and manufacturing method thereof
The present invention discloses a metal-ceramic composite joint prosthesis and applications and a manufacturing method thereof. The joint prosthesis comprises a metal body and a ceramic body, wherein the metal body is integrally formed and comprises a porous structure layer, a boundary layer and a root-like layer, the boundary layer is located between the porous structure layer and the root-like layer, the root-like layer comprises a plurality of root-like filament clusters connected to the boundary layer but not in contact with one another, each root-like filament cluster comprises a main root perpendicularly connected to the boundary layer and a plurality of fibrous roots connected to the lateral side of the main root, the fibrous roots extend obliquely towards the side away from the boundary layer, and the ceramic body covers the root-like filament clusters and is formed on the boundary layer. The joint prosthesis achieves the compositing of metal and ceramic, thereby achieving both a wear-resistant ceramic body required for a joint friction surface and a porous metal structure with a good bone ingrowth effect required for an osseointegration surface. The root-like filament clusters of the root-like layer are rooted in the ceramic body, to form a tight and stable connection between the ceramic body and the metal body, and the root-like clusters being not in contact with one another prevents the ceramic body from locally breaking or cracking.
INTERVERTEBRAL DEVICES
An intervertebral fusion device is disclosed. The intervertebral fusion device comprises a superior component (40), an inferior component (60) and a core component (10). The superior component (40) has a superior component top side and a superior component bottom side and is configured to be received in an intervertebral space between first and second vertebrae whereby the superior component top side abuts against the first vertebra. The inferior component (60) has an inferior component top side and an inferior component bottom side and is configured to be received in the intervertebral space whereby the inferior component bottom side abuts against the second vertebra. The superior component bottom side and the inferior component top side oppose each other when the superior and inferior components (40, 60) are received in the intervertebral space. The core component (10) is configured for insertion between the superior and inferior components (40, 60) whereby a separation between the superior and inferior components is determined. The core component (10) comprises a retention mechanism which moves between a contracted condition and an expanded condition. The core component (10) is insertable between the superior and inferior components (40, 60) when the retention mechanism is in the contracted condition. The retention mechanism inter-engages with the superior component (40) and the inferior component (60) when in the expanded condition and when the core component (10) is received between the superior and inferior components to thereby present resistance to movement of the core component from between the superior and inferior components.
INTERVERTEBRAL DEVICES
Intervertebral fusion device comprising a superior component, an inferior component, and a core component. The superior component comprises first and second superior parts which are coupled to each other to allow the first and second superior parts to move apart to thereby increase a perimeter of the superior component top side. The inferior component comprises first and second inferior parts which are coupled to each other to allow the first and second inferior parts to move apart to thereby increase a perimeter of the inferior component bottom side. The core component is configured for insertion between the superior and inferior components whereby separation between the superior and inferior components is determined. The core component interengages with each of the superior and inferior components upon insertion. The superior and inferior components are unattached to each other before the core component is inserted between the superior and inferior components. As the core component is progressively inserted between the superior and inferior components, the core component: bears against the first and second superior parts to push the first and second superior parts progressively apart; and bears against the first and second inferior parts to push the first and second inferior parts progressively apart.
Novel Elastomer Gel Liner with Perspiration Elimination Mechanism
A method of making a prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic assembly that acts as the interface between the residual limb of an amputee and the socket assembly. The prosthetic liner comprises an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and sidewalls comprising an inner layer of molded thermoplastic gel. A thermoplastic material is molded over a mandrel that has been sandblasted using #36 grit and, optionally, #320 grit at 100 psi so as to form microcraters and reduce the coefficient of static friction. The liner further includes a sweat port incorporated into the distal end with a one-way valve for the elimination of perspiration.
