DELIVERY DEVICES AND METHODS
Implementations of a delivery device and method are disclosed. One implementation is a delivery device comprising a flow chamber with an inlet port for receiving a fluid flow in the flow chamber, and an outlet port for exiting a material from the flow chamber. The flow chamber may include a formation portion in which a suspension of the material is formed, and a collection portion that directs the suspension toward and/or into the outlet port. An amount of the material may collect in the collection portion adjacent the outlet port. The device may further comprise an insertion port for permitting insertion of the material in the flow chamber, and/or a pusher operable to move the amount of material through the outlet port. Related devices and methods also are disclosed.
METHODS OF TREATMENT USING NICLOSAMIDE
The present invention provides for a method for the treatment of a respiratory disease, disorder or condition, or a viral infection or viral disease, disorder or condition in a subject, the method comprising the step of administering to said subject a medically active liquid in nebulized form by inhalation, wherein the medically active liquid comprises niclosamide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and wherein the medically active liquid is administered in nebulized form using an inhalation device.
Devices, systems, and methods for dry powder therapies
Containment units, dry powder inhalers, delivery systems, and methods for the same are disclosed. Exemplary devices are configured to have inlets and outlets which are formed with the containment walls of a containment unit. Air jets formed by the configuration of inlet(s) and outlet(s) inside the containment unit create significant turbulence and deaggregate the powder. Delivery system components downstream of the containment unit may integrate the exiting aerosol plume with a low flow nasal cannula air stream for delivery to a subject.
POWDER DISPERSION METHODS AND DEVICES
A dry powder inhaler includes a powder storage element configured to hold a powdered medicament and an inlet channel receives, powdered medicament from the powder storage element that is entrained in an airflow. The inlet channel has a first diameter and defines an opening. The inhaler includes a dispersion chamber that receives the airflow and the powdered medicament from the opening. The dispersion chamber has a second diameter. The inhaler includes an actuator housed within the dispersion chamber. The actuator oscillates within the dispersion chamber when exposed to the airflow to deaggregate the powdered medicament entrained by the airflow passing through the dispersion chamber. A ratio between the first diameter and the second diameter is between about 0.40 and 0.60 such that an audible sound is produced as the actuator oscillates. The inhaler includes an outlet channel through which the airflow and powdered medicament exit the inhaler.
INHALER DEVICES, MEDICATION FORMULATIONS USED THEREWITH AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
Exemplary dry powder inhaler devices may include a housing body having a medicine capsule recess therein, a pair of air inlets each fluidically connecting to the recess, and an outlet body coupled to the housing body. Each inlet may have a width no greater than 1.17 mm. The outlet body may have a channel fluidically connecting the recess to an opening and configured to allow a user to draw air through the opening, thereby allowing an airstream to be drawn through the air inlets, into the housing body recess where it causes the capsule to spin and eject its contents into the airstream, and through the outlet body channel and opening to deliver the substance into the user's lungs. Dry powder respirable drug blend formulations, methods of manufacturing the formulations and drug/device combinations are also provided.
POWDER FORMULATIONS FOR INHALATION
Summary
The invention relates to powdered pharmaceutical formulations which, in addition to carrier particles and particulate active ingredient which preferably adheres to the surface of the carrier particles, contains a mixing element, wherein the formulation fluidized in the carrier gas stream can contain the mixing element. Preferably, the powdered pharmaceutical formulation is packaged as a single dose, for example filled into a container as a single dose, for example in a capsule. The mixing element has a size of at least 1 mm to 10 mm in a first dimension and a size of at least 50% of the size it has in the first dimension in the other two dimensions.
INHALER ARTICLE WITH OPEN DISTAL END, AND INHALER SYSTEM
An inhaler article (150) includes a body (151) extending along a longitudinal axis of the inhaler article from a mouthpiece end (154) to a distal end (156), a capsule cavity (155) and a capsule (160) retained within the capsule cavity. The capsule cavity is defined within the body and bounded downstream by a filter element (157) and bounded upstream by a tubular element (153) defining a central passage (152) in fluid communication with the capsule cavity. The central passage forms an air inlet aperture extending along the longitudinal axis of the inhaler article from the distal end of the body towards the capsule cavity, wherein the tubular element has a central passage inner diameter in a range from about 50% to about 90% of an inner diameter of the capsule cavity. The inhaler article is configured to receive a swirling inhalation airflow into the central passage.
AUTOMATIC DISPENSER FOR RESPIRATORY DELIVERY DEVICE
The present invention provides a particulate delivery device with an automatic activation mechanism that pierces or cuts a composition capsule when a cap is removed. The cap cannot be replaced once the device is activated for use. The device allows for gas flow through the device from a gas inlet to a gas outlet through a composition receptacle and dispersion chamber to deliver particulate to the airway of a subject.
DISPENSER
A dispenser for powdery substances contained in a separate package that has a container part with removable container cover, wherein an aspirated air flow is further sucked predominantly through the container part after removal of the container cover from the container part, such that two air flows entering through slits in a lid that can be pivoted around a pivoting axis evacuate the container part from its two ends, and after merging enter a vortex chamber upstream from a mouthpiece. Outside air inlet openings for a third air flow are formed in a housing part covered by the lid in a radial extension to the pivoting axis.
