Inhaler and methods of using and making same
An inhaler for facilitating inhalation of dry powder includes a body defining an interior space and a mouth piece. At least one annular member is positioned within the interior space and is rotatable with respect to the mouth piece. The at least one annular member includes a plurality of compartments. Each compartment defines a cavity configured to hold dry powder. Each compartment includes at least one flap and an opening configured to release the dry powder when the at least one flap is reconfigured from a closed position to an open position. The at least one flap covers the opening and inhibits the dry powder from being released from the cavity in the closed position.
Device and method of generating an enriched gas within a nasal vestibule
A device and method of generating an enriched gas within a nasal vestibule of a patient includes a housing, a chamber, a chamber inlet, a pump, a molecular sieve bed, a release outlet, and a breath duct. The chamber is configured to be received within the nasal vestibule. The pump is configured to direct an ambient air from an ambient environment into the chamber. The molecular sieve bed is positioned within the chamber and configured to collect a predetermined molecule from the ambient air thereby generating the enriched gas. The release outlet is configured to discharge the enriched gas from the chamber into the nasal vestibule. The breath duct longitudinally extends through the housing such that the breath duct is configured to fluidly communicate a fluid flow through the housing for nasal breathing by the patient while the chamber is positioned within the nasal vestibule.
Air humidification device and humidification system
Provided are a humidification device and a humidification system, the humidification device includes a desorption structure, where the desorption structure includes a first housing, a heating layer and a desorption metal organic framework (MOF) portion; the first housing is provided with an air inlet and an air outlet; the heating layer is arranged in an inner side of the first housing; the desorption MOF portion is arranged inside the first housing and attached to the heating layer, where a temperature of the desorption MOF portion is adjusted based on a temperature of the heating layer, and the desorption MOF portion is of a preset moisture. The humidification device provided by the present disclosure can realize precise control on the humidity of the air, and have the properties of ease of use, high capacity, portability and low cost.
AIR-JET DRY POWER INHALER FOR RAPID DELIVERY OF PHARMACEUTICAL AEROSOLS TO INFANTS
Proposed devices operate on positive pressure with as little as 5-6 ml of air and can efficiently empty (emitted doses >80%) and deliver the aerosol to infant lungs (lung delivery efficiency of ˜60% of the loaded dose). Significant features include internal flow structure of the air-jet DPI, automatic gas sources, infant-specific interfaces, small diameter nasopharyngeal tubes, sealed nasal prongs, 3D rod array preceding patient interface, nasal CPAP rapid aerosol delivery system, nasal CPAP streamlined interface, multidose storage and delivery unit, and pressure sensing near the infant airways (at the nasal cannula interface).
OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR WITH A USER-REPLACEABLE DESICCANT RECEPTACLE
A user-replaceable receptacle for an oxygen concentrator includes a containment structure and a desiccant disposed within the containment structure. An inlet end of the containment structure allows feed gas to be introduced into the desiccant. An outlet end of the containment structure allows the feed gas to exit the containment structure. A connection mechanism couples the outlet end of the containment structure to a gas separation adsorbent. The connection mechanism is operable between an unconnected position and a connection position. The desiccant in the user-replaceable receptacle removes water moisture from the feed gas prior to exiting the outlet end of the containment structure, thereby reducing exposure of the gas separation adsorbent to water.
Inhaler and methods of using and making the same
A dose ring for a dry powder inhaler (DPI) device includes an aluminum foil member covering particulate medication cavities and through holes. The device includes hinged flaps formed by a cut so that one radial side is uncut and forms a hinge. Each flap can cover both a cavity for particulate medication and a through hole located between that cavity and the circular inside edge of the dose ring.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING OPERATIONS IN AN OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR
Methods and apparatus may implement controlled generation of oxygen enriched air in an oxygen concentrator while implementing control that reduces pneumatic imbalance between the concentrator's canisters, such as dynamic pressure imbalance or other pneumatic characteristic. One or more controllers may regulate operation of a compressor that feeds a pressurised air stream to the concentrator's canisters. This may regulate speed of the compressor to a speed set point for generating the pressurised stream. The regulating may involve generating a compressor control signal having a characteristic parameter such as a power parameter. The controller(s) may operate valve(s) in a cyclic pattern so as to produce oxygen enriched air in an accumulator. A cycle of the cyclic pattern may include a plurality of phases, where each of the plurality of phases has a duration. The controller(s) may then generate a dynamic adjustment to the duration(s) based on an evaluation of the characteristic parameter.
Method and system for drug delivery
There is provided in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a device and a method for controlled extraction of at least one active substance from at least one type of plant matter by application of heat, the device comprising: a heating element adapted to apply heat to an area of the plant matter to extract the substance; and a mechanism adapted for moving the plant matter relative to the heating element. Optionally, the active substance is a restricted substance. There is also provided in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a method of monitoring and controlling inhalation of a restricted substance. There is provided in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a method of manufacturing a tape of plant matter comprising an active substance.
Drug delivery systems and related methods
Systems and methods for isolating and/or desiccating a portion of a drug delivery tract of a drug delivery apparatus to reduce water vapor content therein are provided. For example, there is provided a metered dose inhaler for delivering aerosolized medicament or other matter to a user. The aerosolized medicament or other matter may be discharged from a discharge passageway within the inhaler into an inhalation passageway for inhalation by a user, and the inhaler may comprise a seal member operative to selectively isolate the discharge passageway from the inhalation passageway and external environment during inactivity. The inhaler may further comprise a desiccant material arranged to withdraw moisture from the isolated discharge passageway. In other instances, desiccant material may be arranged to withdraw moisture from the discharge passageway of the inhaler without isolating the discharge passage during inactivity.
