Virtual golf system for playing golf, comprising a plurality of trackable golf balls, wherein each golf ball comprises transmitting means for broadcasting electromagnetic beacon signals for detecting a position of the golf ball, a position determination unit comprising three receiving antenna's arranged for receiving beacon signals broadcasted by any of said plurality of trackable golf balls, and wherein said position determination unit is arranged to determine a position of said golf ball on a driving range based on time differences of a broadcasted beacon signal received by said receiving antenna's. A plurality of trackable golf balls and a plurality of players may be active at the same time. Trackable golf balls may be paired with specific players. A game controller advances a virtual game of golf each time a trackable golf ball is stroked by a player.

A system for simulating a golf game is provided. The system includes a simulator containing a golf ball launch area and a display, a computer coupled to the simulator, and a motion monitor coupled to the computer and configured to track exercise activity of the user. The computer is configured to compute a trajectory of a simulated golf ball on a simulated golf course, compute a distance to a simulated golf ball landing position on the simulated golf course, display the computed distance to the simulated golf ball landing position on the display, simulate moving through the simulated golf course based at least in part on the exercise activity of the user, and update the computed distance to the simulated golf ball landing position based at least in part on the exercise activity of the user. Described herein are methods and apparatuses for simulating golf. For example, described herein is a system for simulating a golf game. The system includes a simulator with a golf ball launch area and a display and an exercise device. The exercise device and simulator are connected to a computer.

An LED screen for use in interactive golf driving ranges is disclosed. In an embodiment, a system includes a plurality of enclosures each housing LED nodes, where the plurality of enclosures is arranged in a plurality of rows to form an LED screen. The system also includes a coupler configured to couple a first one of the plurality of enclosures to a second one of the plurality of enclosures. The system also includes an LED processor configured to control each of the nodes via the coupler to display media on the LED screen.

A movable, flexible turf belt is tensioned between storage devices at each end of the turf belt. A portion of the turf belt is configured as a putt spot, supporting the player's weight and simulating a real putting experience. The system is provided with actuators underneath the turf belt for creating a variety of undulations, inclinations, and declinations so as to simulate a wide variety of golf putting scenarios. A golf computer is provided for controlling the turf belt and undulators to simulate golf putting conditions according to a database of simulated golf putting terrain matching existing golf courses.

A simulation apparatus includes an obtaining unit configured to obtain a measurement result of a test shot of a first golf club performed by a testing golfer, and a calculation unit configured to calculate a simulated ball-striking result which is obtained if the testing golfer strikes a golf ball by a second golf club which has a specification different from the first golf club. The calculation unit determines a swing characteristic of the testing golfer based on the measurement result. The calculation unit calculates the simulated ball-striking result based on the swing characteristic and the measurement result.

The present disclosure is directed to a novel golf ball stopping device. The golf ball stopping device includes an upper plate, set at a height so it slows or stops a golf ball which rolls under the plate. The underside of the plate includes a material and structure that provides resistance to the golf ball as it contacts the device. The plate may be supported by a center post, so the golf ball can be aimed at the device from any direction and perform the same function. The center post fits together with a base, and is adjustable to the base so the plate can be positioned at a desired height. The base may be weighted to achieve the optimal friction on the golf ball and to provide stability to the device. The base may include a plurality of downward facing protrusions in order to grip the surface on which it is set and keep the device from spinning when a golf ball rolls under the outer edge of the device.
