A segmented, heated urea mixer and an exhaust system to control NOx emission from combustion engines comprising a plurality of elements, at least one element independently heatable by an external power source to a temperature above a temperature of another element. A method of using the exhaust gas mixer and an exhaust gas mixer system further comprising a controller is also disclosed.
MIXERS FOR USE IN AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEMS
An aftertreatment system comprises: a housing, a SCR system disposed in the housing. A mixer is disposed upstream of the SCR system and includes: a hub, a tubular member disposed circumferentially around the hub and defining a reductant entry port, and plurality of vanes extending from the hub to the tubular member such that openings are defined between adjacent vanes. The plurality of vanes swirl the exhaust gas in a circumferential direction. A reductant injector is disposed on the housing upstream of the SCR system along a transverse axis and configured to insert a reductant into the exhaust gas flowing through the housing through the reductant entry port. The reductant is inserted at a non-zero angle with respect to the transverse axis opposite the circumferential direction to achieve virtual interception. A mixer central axis is radially offset with respect to a housing central axis of the housing.
ENGINE SYSTEM HAVING MIXING MECHANISM FOR EXHAUST AND INJECTED FLUID AND ENGINE EXHAUST TREATMENT STRATEGY
An engine system includes an internal combustion engine having an exhaust system with an SCR aftertreatment mechanism and a urea injector upstream the aftertreatment mechanism. A mixing mechanism is positioned fluidly between the urea injector and the aftertreatment mechanism and includes a turbulator and a swirler structured to increase mixing of the urea and exhaust gases. Related methodology is also disclosed.
Mixer device
The present invention relates to a mixer device for distributing and evaporating a liquid introduced into a gas flow, in particular into an exhaust-gas flow, wherein the mixer device comprises at least one mixer vane (14a) which influences the flow direction of the gas flow. The mixer vane has a first vane (14a′) portion and a second vane portion (14a″) which are arranged in series in the flow direction of the gas flow, which vane portions are designed so that the first vane portion diverts the gas flow approaching the mixer device such that said gas flow has a first swirl component imparted thereto, and so that the second vane portion subsequently diverts the gas flow such that said gas flow has a second swirl component imparted thereto, wherein the first swirl component and the second swirl component oppose one another.
TURBULENCE MEMBER AND HEAT EXCHANGER USING SAME, AND WATER HEATER
A turbulence member is made of a flat plate member configured to be inserted into a heat-transfer tube having a substantially elliptical cross-sectional shape. The flat plate member is a generate turbulence in a fluid flowing inside the heat-transfer tube by a plurality of projected pieces projected on both front and back surfaces. A rotation preventing piece configured to prevent rotation of the flat plate member inside the heat-transfer tube is provided in at least one of both side edges along the flow passage direction in the flat plate member. The rotation preventing piece is provided at a predetermined angle to the flat plate member so that a forefront comes into contact with a tube wall inner circumferential surface of the heat-transfer tube. A space through which the fluid can circulate is formed between the rotation preventing piece and the tube wall inner circumferential surface.
Mixer and mixing device for an exhaust system
A mixer (19), for an exhaust system (7) for mixing and/or evaporating a liquid (13) in an exhaust gas flow (8), especially for an SCR system (9), includes a plurality of guide blades (21) arranged in a star-shaped pattern. Simplified manufacturability of the mixer (19) is achieved if the guide blades (21) are connected each with a centrally arranged core (23) radially on the inside and if the guide blades (21). The guide blades (21) and the core (23) are formed by an integral cast part (24).
MIXING MODULE AND STEAM HEATER
A static mixing module for mixing of material includes an inlet end and an outlet end, between which a longitudinal axis extends. A plurality of angularly spaced mixing channels extendingbetween the inlet end and the outlet end, each two adjacent mixing channels being separated by an intermediate wall. At least one mixing element is provided within each mixing channel. Each intermediate wall has a uniform or an essentially uniform wall thickness (t) as measured in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A steam heater is also disclosed which comprises said static mixing module.
