PAINTING METHOD AND PAINTING APPARATUS FOR INSULATOR

A painting target surface of a resin bumper is painted by discharging a paint mist from a spray gun toward the painting target surface with a charged conductor arranged in contact with an opposite side to the painting target surface. The paint mist is uncharged or is charged with electric charges having an opposite polarity to that of the conductor and at a potential having a lower absolute value than that of the conductor.

AQUEOUS WHITE CONDUCTIVE PRIMER COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF FORMING MULTILAYERED COATING FILM USING SAME

An aqueous white conductive primer coating composition, includes: a binder component (A); and a carbon nanotube dispersion liquid (B); and a coating film formed by the aqueous white conductive primer coating composition has an L* value of whiteness based on a CIE color-matching function of 80 or more and a surface resistivity of 10.sup.8 Ω/□ or less.

Adhesion promoter for thermoplastic polyolefin substrate

An adhesion promoter for non-conductive surfaces is disclosed that combines a polyolefin with co-resins in a colloidal suspension in water. The colloidal suspension in water is prepared from mixing a solid-powder composition that includes the polyolefin and the co-resins with water. The colloidal suspension in water is applied to a low surface energy, non-conductive substrate, such as thermoplastic olefins, in order to make the substrates conductive for electrostatic painting.

A method of forming a material structure from structural units contained within a liquid solution in a spray head is described. The liquid solution includes a solvent and a solute, the solute comprising a plurality of the structural units, the structural units including monomer units, oligomer units, or combinations thereof. The method comprises forming droplets of the liquid solution including the structural units, and spraying the droplets on a substrate, thereby substantially increasing the reactivity of the structural units within the droplets relative to the structural units within the liquid solution in the spray head. The increase in reactivity can result from the droplets containing an excess of a particular ion, the ion excess resulting from a voltage applied to conductive walls of the device which dispenses the droplets. The material structure is then formed on the substrate from the more highly reactive structural units within the droplets.

In a first coating step, low electrical conductivity is imparted to a coating surface 21 of a non-electrically conductive coating object 20 and a first paint film is formed by applying a charged first paint to the coating surface 21 with free ions being suppressed. In a second coating step, a second paint film is formed by applying a negatively-charged second paint to a surface of the first paint film with free ions being suppressed, before the first paint film dries.

System for application of powder coatings to electrically non-conductive elements

A method and system for powder coating non electrically conductive elements, preferably brake pads. A pre-treatment station is upstream of an electrostatic powder coating deposition station and a baking station for melting and polymerizing the powder coating in order to form a coating layer on a surface to be coated. The pre-treatment station causes the elements to be coated to conduct electrically by uniformly wetting said elements by means of creating poorly mineralized water covalent bonds on at least one surface to be coated, in an amount aimed at producing a measurable weight increase in the non electrically conductive elements, which then causes them to conduct electrically. The water adsorbed and/or deposited is subsequently eliminated within the baking station.
