With the cutting insert coupled to the first base, the first projection is at least partially positioned in the insert aperture, and, with the cutting insert coupled to the second base, the second projection is at least partially positioned in the insert aperture. In one aspect, a pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes this pipe cutting assembly.
PARTING BLADE AND GROOVING AND PARTING-OFF TOOL
A parting blade includes an internal cooling agent supply and has two substantially plane-parallel lateral faces and a continuous transversal bore connected to a cooling agent channel that runs parallel to the lateral faces in the interior of the parting blade. In order to provide a parting blade that has no projection on one side, a stopper is provided having two substantially parallel end faces and a circumferential face that connects the end faces. The stopper can be inserted into the transversal bore of the parting blade, thereby sealing the transversal bore relative to at least one lateral face of the parting blade. The stopper terminates without protruding over the sealed lateral face, flush with the lateral face. The stopper has an opening on both the end face and the circumferential face. The openings are connected to one another in the interior of the stopper to connect the cooling agent channel to a cooling agent source.
DOUBLE-SIDED, INDEXABLE TURNING INSERT AND TURNING TOOL
Indexable, double-sided turning inserts for turning operations and and a turning tool are provided with cutting edges at alternating corners on opposite sides of the insert. Chipbreaker structures can be provided without interfering with providing large supporting surfaces. When the insert is used in a cutting operation, chips from one of the cutting edges in use are unlikely to damage cutting edges that are not in use but are on adjacent corners.
Interchangeable cutting inserts and methods associated with the same
A cutting insert configured to couple to a pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes a first cutting edge and a second cutting edge opposite the first cutting edge. A pipe cutting assembly is provided and includes a first base, a second base separate from the first base, and a cutting insert interchangeably couplable to the first base and the second base to perform a first cut with the cutting insert coupled to the first base and a second cut with the cutting insert coupled to the second base. A pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes a tool support, a first cutting tool base and a second cutting tool base interchangeably coupled to the tool support, and a cutting insert interchangeably coupled to the first cutting tool base and the second cutting tool base.
CIRCULAR CUTTING INSERT HAVING NON-CIRCULAR PERIPHERAL EDGE
A cutting tool has an insert holder with an indexable cutting insert removably secured therein. The cutting insert has upper and lower end surfaces with a peripheral side surface and a through bore extending therebetween, and a plurality of upper cutting edges formed on an upper peripheral edge. The peripheral side surface includes a non-circular upper relief surface adjacent the upper peripheral edge and a circular upper abutment surface spaced apart from the upper peripheral edge. Each upper cutting edge exhibits mirror symmetry about a bisector plane, and is non-linear in a side view. The through bore has an inner undercut formed by upper and lower bore surfaces located on opposite sides of a median plane, and a clamping member makes contact with one of the upper and lower bore surfaces at an inner contact zone located between the median plane and a seat surface of the insert holder.

Double-sided, polygonal cutting insert with alternating concave and convex cutting edges
A double-sided, polygonal cutting insert includes a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. A plurality of side surfaces extend between the first surface and the second surface. A plurality of primary concave cutting edges are formed at an intersection between the plurality of side surfaces and the first and second surfaces, and a plurality of convex wiper edges are formed at an intersection between the plurality of side surfaces and the first and second surfaces. Each wiper edge has a step extending radially outward from a respective side surface.
