In one aspect, a pipe cutting assembly is provided and includes a first base, a second base and a cutting insert. The first base includes a first projection and a first coupling aperture defined in the first projection. The second base is separate from the first base and includes a second projection and a second coupling aperture defined in the second projection. The cutting insert includes a cutting edge and an insert aperture defined therein. The cutting insert interchangeably couples to the first base and the second base. With the cutting insert coupled to the first base, the first projection is at least partially positioned in the insert aperture, and, with the cutting insert coupled to the second base, the second projection is at least partially positioned in the insert aperture. In one aspect, a pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes this pipe cutting assembly.

A cutting insert configured to couple to a pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes a first cutting edge and a second cutting edge opposite the first cutting edge. A pipe cutting assembly is provided and includes a first base, a second base separate from the first base, and a cutting insert interchangeably couplable to the first base and the second base to perform a first cut with the cutting insert coupled to the first base and a second cut with the cutting insert coupled to the second base. A pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes a tool support, a first cutting tool base and a second cutting tool base interchangeably coupled to the tool support, and a cutting insert interchangeably coupled to the first cutting tool base and the second cutting tool base.

A pipe machining apparatus is provided and includes a tool support, a first cutting tool base and a second cutting tool base interchangeably coupled to the tool support, and a cutting insert interchangeably coupled to the first cutting tool base and the second cutting tool base.

A tool holder for a cutting insert is proposed, the tool holder being configured to make it possible to easily mount and separate only an insert that is worn during cutting or needs to be replaced for various types of machining, make it possible to easily replace a cutting insert when replacing the cutting insert, and have a coupling structure that enables replacement of even a cutting body on which a cutting insert is mounted.

A cutting tool body is configured for securing a cutting insert with a female thread. The cutting tool body includes a machining end and a tool peripheral surface which extends therefrom. The cutting tool body further includes a through, non-threaded tool coupling bore which opens out to the tool peripheral surface and a coupling screw which has a coupling screw thread. The coupling screw is being located in the tool coupling bore and configured to secure the cutting insert. The cutting tool body further includes a holding member which engages the coupling screw thread at least when the holding member is not in contact with the cutting insert.

A cutting tool body is configured for securing a cutting insert with a female thread. The cutting tool body includes a machining end and a tool peripheral surface which extends therefrom. The cutting tool body further includes a through, non-threaded tool coupling bore which opens out to the tool peripheral surface and a coupling screw which has a coupling screw thread. The coupling screw is being located in the tool coupling bore and configured to secure the cutting insert. The cutting tool body further includes a holding member which engages the coupling screw thread at least when the holding member is not in contact with the cutting insert.

The cutting tool can be assembled and utilized in four different configurations in a turret.

A cutting tool assembly includes a cutting tool and an indexable cutting insert having an insert index axis. The cutting insert includes parallel insert first and second sides connected by an insert peripheral surface that extends peripherally around the cutting insert. At least one clamping hole opens out to one or both of the insert first and second sides, and at least a portion of the clamping hole is in a clamping region of the cutting insert. The insert peripheral surface includes cutting edges that are spaced-apart and extend from the insert first side to the insert second side. Along a width direction, which is perpendicular to the insert first and second sides, each of the cutting edges is wider than the cutting insert, at least at the cutting region of the cutting insert.
