Cutting tool and insert with convex cutting edges
A cutting insert of a substantially horizontal cylindrical segment shape and having top and bottom surfaces with a circular segment shape. The cutting insert has a convex side and a flat side, a top cutting edge which is formed where the convex side and the top surface meet, and a bottom cutting edge which is formed where the convex side and the bottom surface meet. The cutting insert includes a hole extending from the convex side towards the flat side. The hole is positioned at a center of a surface of the flat side.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method for manufacturing machined product
A cutting insert may include a base and a cutting part. The cutting part may include an upper surface, a first cutting edge and a second cutting edge. The first cutting edge may be located on a first ridgeline. The second cutting edge may be located on a second ridgeline. The upper surface may include a first inclined surface, protrusions and a first upheaved part. The first inclined surface may be located along the first ridgeline. The protrusions may be located side by side in a direction along the first ridgeline on the first inclined surface. The first upheaved part may be located at a side further away from the first ridgeline than the pair of protrusions. The second cutting edge may be inclined downward. An upper end of the first upheaved part may be located above the second cutting edge.
Cutting insert adaptor and tool assembly
A cutting insert adaptor for an insert pocket can include one or more pairs of opposing insert abutment surfaces and pocket abutment surfaces which converge at an acute angle. The one or more insert abutment surfaces are all rotated in the same direction, relative to their paired pocket abutment surface which in turn rotates a cutting insert abutting the cutting insert adaptor relative to an orientation the cutting insert would have if it only abutted the insert pocket instead of the cutting insert adaptor.
Cutting insert and turning tool using cutting insert
A cutting insert 2 includes an upper surface 6, a lower surface 7 on a side opposite to the upper surface 6, and a peripheral side surface 8 connecting the upper surface 6 and the lower surface 7. A cutting edge 61 is formed in at least a part of a first ridgeline 60 where the upper surface 6 and the peripheral side surface 8 intersect. At least one bottomed recess 10 recessed from the lower surface 7 to the upper surface 6 is formed in an outer peripheral portion of the lower surface 7. Each of the recesses 10 is formed in a substantially triangular shape having a first vertex P, a second vertex Q, and a third vertex R. The first vertex P and the second vertex Q are respectively positioned on a second ridgeline 70 where the lower surface 7 and the peripheral side surface 8 intersect. The third vertex R is positioned on the lower surface 7 and separated from the second ridgeline 70.
Insert adaptor and turning tool comprising same
An insert adaptor is configured for providing secure clamping of an insert in an insert pocket. The insert adaptor is configured to be located between an insert and an insert pocket and includes at least one magnetic surface configured for applying a magnetic attraction force to the insert pocket or a shim.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert and a cutting tool which can suppress lowering of blade-edge positional accuracy while holding by a holder having a small thickness is enabled are provided.
The cutting insert includes a first end surface, a second end surface, and a peripheral side surface connected to the first end surface and the second end surface and having a rake face, a flank, and a cutting edge formed in a connection region between the rake face and the flank, and a through hole penetrating the first end surface and the second end surface is formed. It is the cutting insert including a first contact surface substantially perpendicular to a center axis direction of the through hole and capable of contacting the holder, a second contact surface substantially in parallel with the center axis direction of the through hole, substantially perpendicular to a plane including the first contact surface and capable of contacting the holder, and a third contact surface inclined with respect to the center axis direction of the through hole and capable of contacting the holder, and a cutting tool including the cutting insert as above.
Holder for a broaching tool
Broaching tool comprising a cutting insert having a cutting edge and a holder for holding the cutting insert. The holder has a clamping region and a holding region, wherein the holding region comprises, at its end facing away from the clamping region, a seat for the cutting insert, which is configured and arranged such that, when the cutting insert is mounted in the seat, its cutting edge projects beyond the circumferential surface of the holding region. The holding region furthermore comprises, on its circumferential surface, a support for the cutting insert. A coolant channel extends into the inside of the holder, which coolant channel comprises two exit openings which, as seen in the circumferential direction, are arranged laterally adjacent to the support and/or in lateral surfaces of the support.
Cutting Tool and Cutting Insert Having a Deep Blind Opening
A non-indexable, one-sided cutting insert includes opposite insert side surfaces which define an insert width therebetween, opposite insert front and rear surfaces which extend between the insert side surfaces and define an insert depth therebetween and opposite insert top and bottom surfaces which extend between the insert side surfaces and the insert front and rear surfaces. The insert top and bottom surfaces define an insert height therebetween. The insert further includes a main cutting edge formed at an intersection between the insert top and front surfaces. A maximum value of the insert width is smaller than minimum value of the insert height, and a minimum value of the insert depth. The insert includes a deep opening which opens out only to the insert bottom surface and defines an opening depth. A depth ratio defined between the opening depth and the insert height is greater than 0.3.
INSERT HOLDER HAVING WEIGHT-REDUCING VOIDS AND CUTTING TOOL
An insert holder includes a cutting portion and a shank portion. The insert holder further includes a cavity which includes a cavity chamber and a plurality of cavity through recesses which serve to reduce the weight of the insert holder. The plurality of cavity through recesses open out to the cavity chamber and to the periphery of the shank portion. A cutting tool is provided having a cutting insert releasably attached to the insert holder.
CUTTING INSERT AND DRILLING TOOL
