An angle guide assembly for being coupled to a table body that slides along a longitudinal axis relative to a base of a saw. The angle guide assembly includes an attachment member configured to attach the angle guide assembly to the table body; a guide body and an angled fence pivotally coupled to the guide body between a first orientation in which a workpiece can be placed at an angle to the longitudinal axis along a first guide surface of the guide body by placing the workpiece against the fence surface, and a second orientation in which a workpiece can be placed at an angle to the longitudinal axis along a second guide surface of the guide body by placing the workpiece against the fence surface.

A portable machining apparatus has high operability in tilting a body with respect to a base or in machining a workpiece with the tilting body. A portable machining apparatus placeable on a long gauge placed on an upper surface of a workpiece includes a base placeable on the long gauge, a body including a blade for machining the workpiece, an angular plate fixed to the base to support the body in a tiltable manner and including a protrusion, a body support located between the body and the base and including a guide engageable with the protrusion to allow sliding of the protrusion on the guide, and a spring that urges the protrusion toward the guide.

A portable machining apparatus has high operability in tilting a body with respect to a base or in machining a workpiece with the tilting body. A portable machining apparatus placeable on a long gauge placed on an upper surface of a workpiece includes a base placeable on the long gauge, a body including a blade for machining the workpiece, an angular plate fixed to the base to support the body in a tiltable manner and including a protrusion, a body support located between the body and the base and including a guide engageable with the protrusion to allow sliding of the protrusion on the guide, and a spring that urges the protrusion toward the guide.

A miter saw includes a base assembly configured to at least partially support a workpiece on the miter saw. The miter saw also includes a turntable pivotably coupled to the base assembly about a vertical miter axis in a first rotational direction and a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction. The turntable is also configured to at least partially support the workpiece on the miter saw. The miter saw also includes a constraining device coupled between the base assembly and the turntable. The constraining device is configured to inhibit movement of the turntable relative to the base assembly in a direction different than the first and second rotational directions.

A compound saw includes a base, a housing, a transmission component and a table, the rear end of the table is rotatably connected to the housing, and is engaged with the cutter head through the transmission component, so as to expose the cutter head out of the first cutting slit or out of the second cutting slit when the front end of the table swings upward and downward. The cutter head of the compound saw can be switched between the bench cutting mode and the miter cutting mode. Accordingly, on one hand, the structure for switching between modes is simple and does not require the cooperation of too many parts; on the other hand, the switchover can be realized simply by manually operating the movable bench, without too many operations.

A shaft cutting tool incorporating a scissor assembly having a first arm, a second arm, and a hinge interconnecting the arms' proximal ends; a shaft mount attached to the first arm's distal end; and a cutting wheel assembly operatively mounted within a hollow bore formed at the second arm's distal end; wherein the cutting wheel assembly includes a drive axle and rotary bearing; and wherein the drive axle extends oppositely from the cutting wheel for engagement with a portable electric drill.

A miter saw has a base having a detent notch, a table rotatably connectable to the base, a pivoting assembly connected to the table, and a saw assembly supported by the pivoting assembly. The saw assembly has a blade movable downwardly for a cutting operation. A locking mechanism is disposed on the table. The locking mechanism is movable between an unlocked position and a locked position for selectively unlocking and locking the table for rotational movement relative to the base about the miter axis. The locking mechanism has a lock lever rotatably connected to the table. The lock lever has a handle for moving locking mechanism between the locked and unlocked positions. The saw also has a miter detent assembly for selectively engaging and disengaging the detent notch.

A miter saw includes a worktable and a cutting unit. The cutting unit includes a movable arm pivotably connected with the worktable, a saw blade, a triggering switch and a tilt power-off module. The movable arm defines a reference plane which intersects a working surface of the worktable at an included angle. The tilt power-off module is disposed to detect the included angle and shift the triggering switch between a power-on state and a power-off state. The triggering switch is shifted to the power-off state when the tilt power-off module detects that the included angle is less than a predetermined breaking angle so as to prevent rotation of the saw blade in a folded position for safety purposes.

A method of aligning a saw unit and a base. The saw unit further includes a front bevel angle adjustment bracket proximate a front end of the base and a rear bevel angle adjustment bracket proximate a rear end of the base. The saw unit further comprises a first fastener extending through a first elongated slot in one of the base or the front bevel angle adjustment bracket and a second fastener extending through a second elongated slot in one of the base or the rear bevel angle adjustment bracket. Each of the first and second elongated slots extends along a lateral axis oriented transverse to the longitudinal axis of the base to permit lateral adjustment of the saw unit relative to the base.

An articulated chop saw mast section (30) replaces a rigid prior art mast section (22) between a chop saw base (20) and a chop saw swing arm assembly (23′). The articulation of mast section (30) provides a front-to-rear longitudinal movement of the swing arm assembly (23′) along an axis that is parallel to the longitudinal axis of a chop saw cutting wheel (26), ultimately providing front-to-rear movement of the cutting wheel (26) along its longitudinal axis. The movement of wheel (26) in this fashion provides a means for optimum adjustment to the geometric relationship between wheel (26) and the material to be cut. The ability of the articulated mast to achieve optimum cutting geometry offers greater cutting efficiency by reducing the point or points of contact between wheel (26) and the material's specific profile.
