MACHINE TOOL
A machine tool includes a first spindle, a second spindle, and a joining means for joining the axial ends of workpieces gripped by the spindles to form a joined workpiece. The machine tool further includes an electric servomotor for moving the first spindle in the direction intersecting the axis of the first spindle, a current value detection means for detecting the current value of the electric servomotor, and a misalignment detecting means for detecting misalignment of a first workpiece and a second workpiece in the joined workpiece, based on the current value detected by the current value detection means when the joined workpiece gripped by the two spindles is rotated.
Joining method
A method of friction welding a first component to a second component, the method having the steps of: rotating the first component relative to the second component about a rotation axis; and bringing the first component into contact with the second component; wherein, while the first component and the second component are in contact, a first average force is applied during a first stage of the friction welding process and a second average force is applied during a second stage of the friction welding process; and the second average force is different from the first average force.
Processing route to design and manufacture highly configurable non-magnetic down-hole sensor collars
Drill collars may be constructed using solid-state welding processes. Solid-state welding produces robust drill collars with high fatigue lifespans and permits individual segments of the drill collar to be optimized based on their intended use. A drill collar may be formed of a first segment with a different material, density, modulus of elasticity and/or geometry than an adjacent second segment fused thereto. If a segment of a drill collar is damaged in use, the damaged segment may be removed and replaced, possibly without de-rating the drill collar. Methods of forming the solid-state welds may include friction welding adjacent segments to one another such that features in each segment are circumferentially aligned when the weld is formed. Supplemental energy sources may provide additional heat at the welded surfaces to ensure the segments are effectively fused.
Method and Apparatus for Friction Current Joining
A method and apparatus for joining using friction and current, wherein the friction/current joining apparatus includes a friction device, a forging device, an electrical current source, and a programmable controller, as well as workpiece holders for the workpieces to be joined. The friction/current joining apparatus is controlled such that, in a contacting phase, the workpieces are initially moved along a process axis, and their mutually facing joining surfaces oriented transverse to a common process axis are brought into contact. In a grinding phase, while subjected to contact pressure by mutual relative movement, the joining surfaces, are ground together and made smooth. At the end of the grinding phase, the relative frictional movement is permanently stopped and, in a forging phase following the grinding phase, the workpieces are pressed together, plasticized, and joined while subjected to contact pressure on their contacting joining surfaces along the process axis, and subjected to conductive heating with electrical current.
System for and method of linking by friction welding a first piece of steel to a second piece of steel with use of Ni-based alloys adapter
A system is provided, comprising a two-sided adapter, made of a Ni-based alloy, that is connected at each of the two sides with a different type of metal, e.g. steel, and wherein the connection of the different types of metal, e.g. steel with the adapter is characterized in that it is achieved at least in part by use of friction welding. A method for linking different types of metal, e.g. steel by using a two-sided adapter as an intermediate, wherein at least one of the adapter-metal (e.g. steel) connections is made by means of friction welding, is also provided.
CURRENT AUXILLARY FRICTION ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING DEVICE AND METHOD
The present invention provides a current auxiliary friction additive manufacturing device, which includes a friction coating device, a movable worktable and a current generation device. The device is specially used for current auxiliary friction additive manufacturing. The present invention further provides a current auxiliary friction additive manufacturing method. The present invention promotes interface reaction and interface bonding between a coating and a substrate or between the coatings in the traditional friction additive manufacturing process, and improves the bonding strength and service performance of the coating. The method is suitable for manufacturing various thermoplastic conductive consumables such as friction additives of aluminum alloy.
Friction welding method and friction welding apparatus
A friction welding method comprises causing an end surface of a first workpiece and an end surface of a second workpiece to engage in relative rotation while the end surfaces are in mutual contact as a compressive load is applied thereto so as to generate heat due to friction at a joint interface between the workpieces, thereafter stopping the relative rotation of the workpieces, and then applying an upset process pressure to the workpieces. When the workpiece end surfaces are brought into mutual contact, a compressive load employed is less than a lower threshold of a bend-producing compressive load domain within which bending of the first workpiece and/or the second workpiece would occur but the compressive load and the relative rotational speed between the workpieces are such as will cause the heat due to friction to be capable of causing plastic deformation at workpiece end surface(s).
Friction pressure welding method
The present invention provides a friction welding method capable of reducing the welding temperature and a friction welding method capable of obtaining a welded portion free of defects regardless the type of material. A frictional welding method in which one member is brought into contact with the other member and slides while a load is applied substantially perpendicularly to the interface to be welded, the frictional welding method comprising: a first step in which frictional welding is carried out by setting a pressure calculated from the area and the load of the interface to be welded to be equal to or higher than the yield stress and the tensile strength of one member and/or the other member at a desired welding temperature; and a second step in which frictional welding is carried out by lowering the load, wherein the first step and the second step are continuously carried out.
MACHINE TOOL
A machine tool includes a first main shaft, a first drive source for moving the first main shaft, a second main shaft, a second drive source for moving the second main shaft, and a control means for carrying out a control so as to bring the workpiece held by the first main shaft and the workpiece held by the second main shaft into contact with each other while rotating them relative to each other, thereby to carry out the friction-heating, and to stop the relative rotation of the pair of workpieces and move only the second main shaft in the axial direction while holding the first main shaft stationary, thereby to carry out friction-welding of the pair of workpieces. The control means controls the operation of the first drive source upon the friction-welding of the pair of workpieces, so as to maintain the axial position of the first main shaft.
