Flywheel for a wood chipper and process for making thereof
A wood chipper which includes a chamber having a flywheel and which includes a wood in-feed system. The in-feed system includes a bin inclined for gravity-feeding wood product to the chamber and a cylindrical anvil disposed between an outlet of the bin and the flywheel. The flywheel includes a plurality of plates laminated together with fasteners. First and second ones of the plates have aligned first and second openings respectively for passage of chips. The second opening has a tab which extends from an edge thereof partially into the first opening. A knife is attached to the tab and supports a blade outwardly of the first plate and thus outwardly of the flywheel. A system is provided for providing water mist onto wood product only as it is being fed down the in-feed bin.
Axial adjustment apparatus for chipper disc
An apparatus, system and method for adjusting and setting a fixed position of an axially displaceable shaft and rotary chipper disc combination, without requiring an attachment to or obstruction of an end face of either end of the axially displaceable shaft. A rotary chipper disc recoil mechanism is also provided for the purpose of detection of unwanted axial forces placed upon the rotating shaft caused by unintentional chipping of metal, and for limiting consequential damage caused by the unintentional chipping of metal and other non-wood materials.
Stump grinder chip pickup chute device and collection system
A stump grinder chip pickup chute device and collection system structured and/or configured to capture and control chips cut from a stump by a stump grinding/cutting wheel and to redirect the chips to a desired target chip collection location.
Chipper adapter system and method
An adapter method and system includes a first side deflector, a second side deflector, and a top deflector coupled to the first side deflector and the second side deflector. The system may further include an internal deflector coupled to the first, second, and top deflectors. A first leg is coupled to the first side deflector and a second leg is coupled to the second side deflector. The legs are adjustable between a first position and a second position. The first, second, and top deflector define an entrance region for channeling wood-based debris into the chute of a woodchipper. Each side deflector may include a coupling mechanism for attaching to a woodchipper. Each coupling mechanism has an aperture. Each leg may telescope within a respective side deflector.
Wood cutting blade with adjustment legs and blade positioning assembly
A blade and assembly provides for a blade that has a front beveled cutting edge and at least two recesses defined within the back, or non-cutting edge, of the blade. A substantially cylindrical cavity or bore extends inwardly into the blade from each recess, the bores being defined in planes that are parallel to the top and bottom surfaces of the blade. A plurality of “T-shaped” legs is provided, each leg having a cross bar or “foot” that is secured at one end of a rod. In the preferred embodiment, three such legs are used, although the present invention is not limited to that number. The rod of each leg is used for insertion into a blade bore. Means for fixing the position of the rod within the blade bore is also provided. This allows the blade to be properly positioned within the holder thereby compensating for blade wear.
DRUM FOR A CHOPPING DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR A PRECISION CHIPPER
A drum for a precision chipper, said chipping device comprising: a shaft on which the drum is arranged, wherein cutting tools are provided on the outer circumference of the drum in blade holders, which cutting tools are used to chop the material to be chipped; at least one distancing piece, which has a support surface or contact surface for the material to be chipped on the drum, the height of which distancing piece being used to determine the chip size, wherein the vertical position of the distancing piece on the drum can be set or adjusted. The distancing piece, when viewed in cross-section, has an approximately T-shaped form such that it can be placed on the outer edge of the drum disk by means of a positively locking surface of the distancing piece, said surface being formed on the face pointing towards the drum by the inner radius of the distancing piece.
Wood chipper with drum speed monitoring system and centrifugal clutch
A wood chipper having a rotatable drum configured to reduce the size of wood fed into the wood chipper; a sensor configured to sense a speed of rotation of the rotatable drum; and a controller operably connected to the sensor. The controller is configured to cut power to the rotatable drum when the speed of rotation of the rotatable drum drops below a pre-set threshold value. The controller is operably engaged with a centrifugal clutch that is engaged to enable the rotatable drum to be rotated. When the speed of drum rotation drops below the threshold value because debris is slowing down rotation of the drum, the centrifugal clutch is disengaged by dropping engine speed. Disengagement of the centrifugal clutch cuts power to the drum and rotation thereof ceases so that the debris may be cleared.
WOOD CHIPPER KNIFE
A wood chipper knife includes a knife body and, in relation to a vertical axis of the wood chipper knife, at least one cutter side, which comprises a top cutting edge portion and a bottom cutting edge portion that intersect to form a cutting edge. The bottom cutting edge portion includes a planar wood attacking portion, which begins at the cutting edge and towards the knife body is followed by a recess. The recess is a pressure release recess, which, from the wood attacking portion, abruptly falls to a bottom of the pressure release recess, and which stretches from the wood attacking portion to the knife body. The knife body comprises a chip guiding portion, which, from the pressure release recess, rises towards the knife body.
