Process for the Production of OSB Wood-Based Boards with Reduced Emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
A process for the production of OSB wood-based panels including: a) producing wood strands from suitable wood logs; b) treating at least part of the wood strands with steam at a temperature between 80° C. and 120° C. and a pressure between 0.5 bar and 2 bar; c) drying the steam-treated wood strands; d) gluing the steam-treated and dried wood strands and, optionally, gluing the non-steam treated wood strands with at least one binder; e) scattering the glued wood strands onto a conveyor belt; and f) pressing the glued wood strands into an OSB wood-based board. The steam treatment takes place after the wood strands have been produced and made available, or after the wood strands have been sifted and separated according to the use of the wood strands for the middle and top layers of the panel. Also, an OSB wood-based panel made using the process.
Wood cutting tool and an arrangement for using said tool
Disclosed is a cutting tool mounted on a shaft rotating about an axis, including a body having first cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing at the outer periphery of the body, which first cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending across the width of the body at a predetermined peripheral radius from the axis; and second cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing adjacent the outer periphery on a first side surface of the body, which second cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending in an axial plane perpendicular to the axis. The cutting edge of each first insert extends up to a predetermined distance from the axial plane of the second inserts; and the cutting edge of each second insert preceding a first insert extends a predetermined radial distance outside the peripheral radius of the cutting edges of the first inserts. Also disclosed is a related apparatus.
Process for the production of OSB wood-based boards with reduced emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Disclosed is a process for the treatment of wood strands suitable for the manufacture of OSB boards, in which the wood strands are treated with steam without drying after extraction, the steam being passed over the wood strands at a temperature between 80° C. and 120° C. and a pressure between 0.5 bar and 2 bar. Also disclosed is a process for the production of OSB wood-based boards including the steps of a) producing wood strands from suitable wood logs; b) treating at least part of the wood strands with steam; c) drying the steam-treated wood strands; d) gluing the steam-treated and dried wood strands and gluing the non-steam-treated wood strands with at least one binder; e) scattering the glued wood strands onto a conveyor belt; and f) pressing the glued wood strands into an OSB wood-based board.
Apparatus and method for processing logs
An apparatus for processing logs includes a conveyor for conveying a log in the apparatus, a chipping canter, which comprises two chipping head assemblies for chipping the opposite sides of a log, and a saw, which comprises at least two circular blades for sawing the log on at least one side. The chipping head assemblies are installed on different shafts than the circular blades. The circular blades of a saw are situated before the chipping canter in the conveying direction of a log and are arranged to, before chipping, partly or completely saw off from the log the parts of the log that are to be chipped with the chipping head assemblies.

Manufacturing Process and Resulting Products of Panels with Structural Edges in Pieces of Wood and Central Core in a Composition of Branch/Trunk Stumps and Resin
A manufacturing process is disclosed which relates to the technical field of the manufacture of wood panels, used in the manufacture of furniture, decorative pieces, floorings, partitions, stairs, doors and other applications in the construction industry, more specifically to a manufacturing process and products resulting from panels featuring structural edges made of pieces of wood and central core in a composition of branch/trunk stumps and resin. The invention presents as innovation, a manufacturing process (1) of decorative surface panels (2), using as raw material in their core and texture, tree branch and trunk stumps (3) originating from pruning or that were ripped off due to the action of the wind or natural causes, which have had resin applied (6) inside the structural base plates (4) of the desired shapes or part of them, consisting of ends or edges (5) made of pieces of wood, preferably reclaimed from the construction industry.
