Method and arrangement related to heating of wings in wind power plants or other devices
The invention relates to a method for the application of heating mats (10) on a wing/blade of a wind power station or other devices for the purpose of achieving deicing also during operation when necessary. Temperature measurement and de-icing take place by means of pulsed current to the heating mat (10). The invention also relates to an arrangement.
METHOD FOR FORMING A COMPOSITE PART OF A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A method for forming a composite part of a gas turbine engine. The method includes assembling the composite part of a first composite material and a second composite material. The second composite material defines an outer surface of the composite part, and is selected to be curable at a cure temperature generated by heat from operation of the engine. The first composite material is selected to have an operating temperature limit less than the cure temperature. The method includes placing the composite part within the engine so that, in use, the second composite material is cured by exposure to the heat generated from operation of the engine. The second composite material thermally shields the first composite material from the heat generated from operation of the engine. The method includes operating the engine to cure the second composite material.
ULTRASONIC WELDING OF DISSIMILAR SHEET MATERIALS
A ultrasonic welding method of joining dissimilar-material workpieces, such as sheet materials, and the joined components formed thereby. The method includes applying ultrasonic energy to a thermoplastic piece to fill a hole of a dissimilar piece to form a weld point that is made up with polymer from the thermoplastic piece. In general, the geometry of the thermoplastic piece is not altered during the process. The dissimilar piece generally has a higher melting temperate and can be metal, thermoset polymers, or other thermoplastic material. The welded pieces can be arranged in a lap, laminate, or double lap configuration. In some embodiments, the hole of the dissimilar sheet material includes undercut features that improve the mechanical interlock between the dissimilar pieces. In some embodiments, the weld point has a mushroom cap to improve mechanical interlock.
CLAMPING RING AND METHOD OF FORMING THE SAME
A method of manufacturing a clamping ring for a cold-expansion joining system includes providing an extruded pipe part made of a cross-linked polymeric material where, while extruding the pipe part, the inner diameter is formed bigger than the outer diameter of a flexible cross-linked polymeric pipe onto which the clamping ring is positioned before making a pipe connection; providing an injection molded annular part having an inner diameter formed smaller than the inner diameter of the extruded part; and bonding the parts together to form a clamping ring having an inward protruding stop edge at one of its ends. The embodiments further relate to a clamping ring formed from an extruded pipe part made of a cross-linked polymeric material and an injection molded annular part bonded together to form a unitary structure including an inward protruding stop edge at one of its ends.
SENSOR INTEGRATION IN THE JOINING OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS
A method for joining structural elements to a component made of at least one fiber-reinforced plastics material, includes providing at least two structural elements made of at least one fiber-reinforced plastics material having a particular matrix; providing at least one film element made of a thermoplastic heavy-duty material; arranging the at least one film element on a surface of one of the structural elements or between surfaces to be joined of the at least two structural elements to be joined; and producing the component to be joined in a curing process.
Apparatus for applying heat shrinkable casings onto preinsulated pipe joints
An automated heat shrink device, useful for forming a connection between two tubular sections having a polymeric outer surface jacket, for example, a connection between two sections of a district heating pipeline, and a method of use thereof. The device is configured such that it requires minimal clearance to either side of the pipeline when being used.
Hybrid composite-metal shaft
A method for making a composite-metal hybrid shaft for a rotorcraft includes providing a tubular metal member that has an internal surface defining a space therein, preparing a composite member using a curing tool, curing the composite member, creating a cured composite member, expanding the metal member with heat, placing the cured composite member into the space defined by the internal surface of the expanded metal member, and allowing the expanded metal member to cool.
PRE-POLYMERIZED THERMOSETTING COMPOSITE PART AND METHODS FOR MAKING SUCH A PART
A part made of a fiber-reinforced composite material includes a structure made from a set of fibers supported in a thermosetting resin and a peel ply across all or part of the outer surface of the structure. The part has a gradient of polymerization at the interface between the structure and the peel ply. Also, methods for making such a part and methods for bonding such parts.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A STABILIZER BAR WITH A RUBBER BUSH
Provided is a method of manufacturing a stabilizer bar with a rubber bush including manufacturing a rubber bush without an intermediate plate by subjecting a rubber composition containing butadiene rubber and natural rubber as a polymer to vulcanization molding; applying a thermosetting adhesive onto at least one of an inner peripheral surface of the rubber bush and an outer peripheral surface of the stabilizer bar, to thereby form a thermosetting adhesive layer; inserting and fitting the stabilizer bar into the rubber bush; holding the rubber bush with a fixing jig such that the rubber bush is compressed at a rate of 0% to 5%, at 25° C., in a direction of the stabilizer bar fitted into the rubber bush; and heating the rubber bush in the state to cure the thermosetting adhesive, to thereby bond and fix the rubber bush onto the stabilizer bar.
ATTACHMENTS
Mechanically attaching articles made from composites has problems due to the difference in properties of the composite in the x, y planar direction and the z perpendicular direction, this results in different properties between the composite and the attachment member such as differences in coefficients of thermal expansion which can weaken the joint further leading to differences in moisture uptake which can further reduce the strength and robustness of the joint. The invention relates to the selection of the position of a joint in order to reduce such problems and to operating the moulding process in a way that improves the provision of mechanical attachments such as bolt holes.
