Mould pair having alignment surfaces
A pair of moulds for moulding an optical component is disclosed. The pair of moulds includes a first mould having a first surface, and a second mould having a second surface. The first surface includes a moulding portion for moulding a first optical surface of the optical component, and an alignment portion for alignment with the second mould. The alignment portion extends around the moulding portion. The second surface includes a moulding portion for moulding a second, opposite optical surface of the optical component, and an alignment portion for alignment with the first mould via a contact with the alignment portion of the first surface. When the moulds are brought together, they self-align. A corresponding moulding apparatus and a method may use the mould pair to manufacture various optical components.
Methods and apparatuses for casting optical polymer films
In an example method of forming an optical film for an eyepiece, a curable material is dispensed into a space between a first and a second mold surface. A position of the first mold surface relative to the second mold surface is measured using a plurality of sensors. Each sensor measures a respective relative distance along a respective measurement axis between a respective point on a planar portion of the first mold surface and a respective point on a planar portion of the second mold surface. The measurement axes are parallel to each other, and the points define corresponding triangles on the first and second mold surfaces, respectively. The position of the first mold surface is adjusted relative to the second mold surface based on the measured position, and the curable material is cured to form the optical film.
Die tool, device and method for producing a lens wafer
This invention relates to a die tool, a device and a method for producing, in particular embossing, a monolithic lens wafer that has a large number of microlenses.
Lens mold carrier
A lens mold carrier (1; 2) comprises: a frame (10; 20) extending in a plane (x,y; u,v) and comprising a plurality of individual compartments (100; 200); at least one mold unit (11; 21) arranged in one of the individual compartments (100; 200) in a manner secured against falling out, the at least one mold unit (11; 21) including an adapter piece (110; 210) and a lens mold (112; 212) fixedly connected to the adapter piece (110; 210). The adapter piece (110; 210) is floatingly arranged within the compartment (100; 200) to allow for limited movement of the adapter piece (110; 210) within the compartment (100; 200) at least in a translation plane parallel to or coincident with the plane (x,y; u,v) in which the frame (10; 20) extends.
Method and device for producing a plurality of microlenses
Device and method for producing a plurality of microlenses from a lens material. The method includes: applying lens material intended for the embossing of the microlenses to a plurality of first lens molds distributed on a first embossing side of a first die for embossing of the microlenses, moving the first die and a second die located essentially parallel, in an X-Y plane, and opposite the first die, on top of one another in a Z-direction running essentially perpendicular to the X-Y plane, embossing the microlenses by shaping and curing the lens material, the shaping taking place by moving the first and second embossing sides on top of one another, up to a thickness D.sub.1 of the lens material in the Z-direction, wherein the lens material of each microlens at least during curing is separate from the lens material of each microlens which is adjacent in the X-Y plane.
Contact lens mold parts, contact lens mold assemblies, and methods of making contact lenses
A contact lens mold part and a contact lens mold assembly (1) are provided. The contact lens mold assembly includes a first mold part (2) and a second mold part (3) assembled together. Each mold part has a lens-forming surface with a circumferential edge, a stop surface extending from the circumferential edge, an intermediate region extending from the stop surface, and an alignment surface extending from the intermediate region. The mold parts can be made to fit together with an interference fit. A method of making a contact lens using the contact lens mold assembly is also provided.
Methods and apparatuses for casting polymer products
In an example method of forming a waveguide part having a predetermined shape, a photocurable material is dispensed into a space between a first mold portion and a second mold portion opposite the first mold portion. A relative separation between a surface of the first mold portion with respect to a surface of the second mold portion opposing the surface of the first mold portion is adjusted to fill the space between the first and second mold portions. The photocurable material in the space is irradiated with radiation suitable for photocuring the photocurable material to form a cured waveguide film so that different portions of the cured waveguide film have different rigidity. The cured waveguide film is separated from the first and second mold portions. The waveguide part is singulated from the cured waveguide film. The waveguide part corresponds to portions of the cured waveguide film having a higher rigidity than other portions of the cured waveguide film.
Methods and apparatuses for casting polymer products
In an example method of forming a waveguide film, a photocurable material is dispensed into a space between a first mold portion and a second mold portion opposite the first mold portion. Further, a relative separation between a surface of the first mold portion with respect to a surface of the second mold portion opposing the surface of the first mold portion is adjusted. The photocurable material in the space is irradiated with radiation suitable for photocuring the photocurable material to form a cured waveguide film. Concurrent to irradiating the photocurable material, the relative separation between the surface of the first mold portion and the surface of the second mold portion is varied and/or an intensity of the radiation irradiating the photocurable material is varied.
