Disclosed is a tire building drum with a first bladder or sleeve, wherein the tire building drum has a first release member and a first actuator for generating a relative movement between the first release member and the drum body to move the first release member in a first release direction with respect to the drum body from a first fixation position in which the first release member fixates the first circumferential edge of the first bladder or sleeve to the drum body into a first release position in which the first release member releases the first circumferential edge from the drum body. Also disclosed is a method for operating the aforementioned tire building drum.

A method for making a vehicle tire in which a tire carcass is expanded radially on a shaping drum, wherein the sidewalls arranged on the tire carcass are turned up by inflatable shaping bladders. This involves moving two pusher bells, which are arranged to the sides of the tire carcass, in the direction of the center of the blank, wherein the pusher bells are respectively mounted on a movable first and second carriage and are respectively moved in the axial direction by a first and second drive by way of a coupling, wherein the pusher bells are pressed laterally against the shaping bladders. When disequilibrium of forces on the two sides of the shaping bladders is set, the pressing positions of the two pusher bells are balanced, the two drives being arranged on a freely mounted third carriage.
Turn-up section and tire building drum comprising said turn-up section
A turn-up section for a tire building drum, includes a plurality of turn-up arms distributed circumferentially about a central axis and an arm support for supporting the turn-up arms with respect to a base, wherein the turn-up arms are rotatable with respect to the arm support from an arms-down position towards an arms-up position in response to the movement of the arm support in an arm drive direction. Each turn-up arm comprises a hinge pin for rotatably coupling the respective turn-up arm to the arm support. The arm support includes a hinge seat for removably receiving the hinge pin of the respective turn-up arm. The hinge pin is retained in the hinge seat by one or more biasing members. The hinge pin of the turn-up arm is removable from the hinge seat in a radial direction with respect to the central axis by counteracting the bias of the one or more biasing members.

A turn-up section for a tire building drum, includes a plurality of turn-up arms distributed circumferentially about a central axis and an arm support for supporting the turn-up arms with respect to a base, wherein the turn-up arms are rotatable with respect to the arm support from an arms-down position towards an arms-up position in response to the movement of the arm support in an arm drive direction. Each turn-up arm comprises a hinge pin for rotatably coupling the respective turn-up arm to the arm support. The arm support includes a hinge seat for removably receiving the hinge pin of the respective turn-up arm. The hinge pin is retained in the hinge seat by one or more biasing members. The hinge pin of the turn-up arm is removable from the hinge seat in a radial direction with respect to the central axis by counteracting the bias of the one or more biasing members.

The machine includes a first drive member and a second drive member movable in the axial direction inside the drum shaft. The first drum half includes a base movable over the drum shaft in an axial direction, a crown-up section having a plurality of crown segments and a displacement member for displacing the crown segments in a crown-up direction, wherein the first drum half further includes a first coupling member for coupling the first drive member to the base to drive the movement of the base and a second coupling member for coupling the second drive member to the displacement member to drive the displacement of the crown segments.

Disclosed is a tire building drum with a turn-up device and a turn-up method, wherein the tire building drum is rotatable about a central axis and includes a first drum half, a second drum half and a center section that is located in the axial direction between the first drum half and the second drum half, wherein the turn-up device includes a first turn-up bladder extending in a circumferential direction around the first drum half, wherein the turn-up device further includes a plurality of first pressing arms pivotable with respect to the first drum half between a rest position and a pressing position, wherein the plurality of first pressing arms in the rest position is arranged to lie at least partially between the uninflated first turn-up bladder and the first drum half in the radial direction.

The invention relates to a method for operating a tire building machine, wherein the tire building machine comprises a first drum half, wherein the first drum half comprises a base for mounting the first drum half to the drum shaft, wherein the base has a central axis that is arranged to coincide with the rotation axis, wherein the base is arranged to be movable over the drum shaft in the axial direction parallel to said central axis, wherein the first drum half is further provided with a turn-up section comprising a plurality of turn-up arms and an arm support, wherein the turn-up arms are rotatable with respect to the arm support from an arms-down position towards an arms-up position, wherein the method comprises the step of displacing the arm support such that each turn-up arm is turned-up into an intermediate position between the arms-down position and the arms-up position.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING TIRE
A method for manufacturing a tire, the method includes arranging bead members onto a molding drum on axially both end sides thereof such that outer surfaces of bead reinforcing rubber components of the bead members have bent faces each having an inverse V-shaped manner protruding radially outwardly, winding a non-turn-up carcass ply on the molding drum such that axially both end portions of the non-turn-up carcass ply cover the respective bent faces, joining the axially both end portions of the non-turn-up carcass ply wound on the molding drum to the respective bent faces. The joining includes a first step for reforming each end portion of the non-turn-up carcass ply in an inverse V-shaped manner so as to be along a respective one of the bent faces, and a second step for pressing reformed end portions of the non-turn-up carcass ply onto the respective bent faces using respective press rollers.
