Vehicular rearview mirror assembly
A vehicular rearview mirror assembly includes an electrochromic reflective element having front and rear glass substrates with an electrochromic medium disposed therebetween. The front glass substrate includes a specularly reflective perimeter layer at least partially around a perimeter border region of the rear side of the front glass substrate. At least one light source is disposed behind the perimeter layer. With the vehicular rearview mirror assembly mounted at the vehicle and when the at least one light source is electrically powered, the at least one light source emits light that passes through the perimeter border region of the second side of the front glass substrate and that is visible to a viewer viewing the first side of the front glass substrate of the electrochromic reflective element at the perimeter layer.
Laminated vehicle glazing having a stiff interlayer
Disclosed generally herein is a laminated vehicle glazing including first and second glass sheets and a polymer interlayer interposed therebetween. The interlayer includes a major part and a stiff part adjacent to the major part. The stiff part does not surround the major part, such that the major part is along at least one edge of the laminated vehicle glazing. The stiff part includes at least one layer made of a material that has a higher Young's modulus than that of the material used in the major part. Young's modulus in the thickness direction of the stiff part is higher than that of the major part.
PRE-FRACTURED GLASS COMPOSITES AND LAMINATES WITH IMPACT RESISTANCE AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A pre-fractured glass laminate that includes: a glass substrate comprising a thickness, a pair of opposed primary surfaces, a compressive stress region, a central tension (CT) region and a plurality of cracks; a second phase comprising a polymer or a cured resin within the plurality of cracks; a backing layer; and an interlayer disposed between one of the primary surfaces of the substrate and the backing layer. The compressive stress region extends from each of the primary surfaces to a first selected depth in the substrate. Further, the plurality of cracks is located in the CT region.
INFRARED LIGHT SHIELDING LAMINATE AND INFRARED LIGHT SHIELDING MATERIAL USING SAME
This infrared light shielding laminate includes: an ITO particle-containing layer; and an overcoat layer which covers an upper surface of the ITO particle-containing layer, wherein core shell particles are present in a state of being in contact with each other in the ITO particle-containing layer, and the core shell particle includes an ITO particle serving as a core and an insulating material serving as a shell that covers the core.
VEHICULAR DRIVER MONITORING SYSTEM
A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a driver monitoring camera disposed at an interior rearview mirror assembly of a vehicle. The driver monitoring camera views a driver of the vehicle when the driver is driving the vehicle. The driver monitoring camera captures image data. An image processor is operable to process image data captured by the driver monitoring camera. The vehicular driver monitoring system determines driver performance based at least in part on (i) image processing by the image processor of image data captured by the driver monitoring camera, (ii) a vehicle characteristic and (iii) a condition exterior of the equipped vehicle. The vehicle characteristic includes at least one selected from the group consisting of (a) vehicle speed, (b) vehicle acceleration and (c) vehicle orientation.
Laminated Switchable Panel and Methods for Making and Using
Method and composition for switchable panels are disclosed. Switchable films are placed between glass and liquid resin is injected between the glass and cured. The panels may be used for a wide variety of applications.
Optical laminate having thin glass, polarizer, and protective film with specified modulus of elasticity
Provided is an optical laminate capable of contributing to reduction in weight and improvement in impact resistance of a display apparatus. The optical laminate includes a thin glass having a thickness of 100 μm or less and a polarizing plate arranged on one side of the thin glass, in which the polarizing plate includes a polarizer and a protective film arranged on a surface of the polarizer on a thin glass side. In one embodiment, the optical laminate of the present invention further includes an adhesion layer between the thin glass and the polarizing plate.
BALLISTIC GLASS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS AND ASSEMBLIES
A ballistic glass assembly including a first glass layer and a second layer including a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) adhesive film. The ballistic glass assembly may also include an intermediate layer comprising a substantially transparent impact resistant material positioned between the first layer and the second layer. Methods of forming the ballistic glass assembly where the second layer and the intermediate layer match the contour of the first glass layer.
Vehicle interior systems having a crack resistant curved cover glass and methods for forming the same
Embodiments of a vehicle interior system and associated processes are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the system includes a base with a curved surface, and a curved glass article disposed on the curved surface. The curved glass article includes a high modulus adhesive layer located on the second major surface. The high modulus adhesive layer has a modulus of elasticity of at least 500 MPa. The high modulus adhesive layer provides crack resistance to the glass article. Methods for forming such glass articles and vehicle interior systems are also disclosed.
CEMENTED OPTICAL ELEMENT, OPTICAL APPARATUS, AND IMAGE PICKUP APPARATUS
A cemented optical element having a first optical component, a second optical component, and a third optical component that contains a resin and is sandwiched between the first optical component and the second optical component. The first optical component contains a resin and has a line unevenness structure on at least a part of a surface in contact with the third optical component. The fine unevenness structure is formed by a plurality of holes or columnar protrusions.
