METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FUEL TANK CAP DETECTION

A method may verify that a fuel tank cap is present and properly closed after refueling of a motor vehicle fuel tank. The method may include, in response to a request for refueling: (a1) enabling refueling of the motor vehicle fuel tank by opening a first vent valve connected in series in a vent line, downstream from a first port of a recirculation line coupled to the vent line, so that to vent the motor vehicle fuel tank to the atmosphere through a fuel vapor canister; (b1) disabling refueling of the motor vehicle fuel tank by closing the first vent valve; (c1) monitoring the internal pressure within the motor vehicle fuel tank when the refueling request is finished; and (d1) concluding that the fuel tank cap is deemed present and properly closed when the internal pressure increases and/or remains higher than the atmospheric pressure.

Turn off the car when pumping the gas in the gas stations

A motor vehicle includes an engine and a fuel tank having a cap with a first position in which the cap seals the fuel tank and a second position in which the cap does not seal the fuel tank. A sensor detects whether the cap is in the first position or the second position. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to the engine and to the sensor. The electronic processor turn offs the engine in response to the sensor detecting that the cap is in the second position.

Closure system for a pressurized container system for a motor vehicle

A closure system for a pressurized container system for a motor vehicle includes a fuel filler flap and at least one refueling connection. The refueling connection has a non-return valve and a protective cap. The protective cap is designed to be pluggable onto an end of the refueling connection. The fuel filler flap covers a refueling compartment which is set back from the vehicle body. On the side facing the refueling compartment, the fuel filler flap has such a contour that the fuel filler flap can be closed only if the protective cap is fitted on the refueling connection.

Disclosed is an inlet end piece for the tank inlet of a motor vehicle, having a closure insert arranged in an upper area of a pipe inlet, having a filling opening and a sealing flap which counter to the force of a closure spring by way of a gas pump nozzle is capable of being opened by pivoting, and is held in the closed state by the closure spring. The inlet end piece has an indicator means having an indicator area, wherein the indicator means in the case of a closed sealing flap is located in an inactive position in which an indicator area of the indicator means is not visible to the user, and in the case of the sealing flap being at least partially opened, the indicator means is displaced into a signal position in which the indicator area becomes visible.

Methods and systems for fuel system monitoring

Methods and systems are provided for detecting a fuel dispensing nozzle coupled to a fuel tank of a vehicle and providing a visual indication of the presence of the fuel dispensing nozzle to a vehicle operator. In one example, a method may include detecting the fuel dispensing nozzle within the fuel tank and illuminating a portion of a fuel tank access region. Further, vehicle operation may be adjusted based on the detection, and one or more alerts may be communicated to the vehicle operator.

Fuel cap detection system

A fuel cap detection system includes a charcoal canister, a notification system, and an electronic controller. The charcoal canister is connected to a fuel tank of a vehicle, the charcoal canister includes a vent valve. The notification system is configured to notify a user when a fuel cap is incorrectly positioned. The electronic controller is configured to perform a leak detection test on the fuel tank by activating the vent valve in the charcoal canister to determine whether the fuel cap is positioned incorrectly, and determine an intent of the user to reposition the fuel cap while the notification system notifies the user that the fuel cap is incorrectly positioned.
