IN-VEHICLE DISPLAY WITH STEREOSCOPIC AND MONOCULAR DEPTH PROGRAMMING
A display system that is configured for integration into a vehicle comprises a light source and an optical subsystem optically coupled to the light source. The optical subsystem includes a reflector and at least one semi-reflective optic, wherein the optical subsystem is configured to direct light rays to provide a plurality of virtual images that appear to a viewer concurrently at a respective plurality of different optical depths, by causing light of each of the virtual images to travel a different distance within the optical subsystem before exiting the optical subsystem on a path toward eyes of the viewer.
Visual display unit for a steering wheel assembly
A visual display unit configured to mount on a steering wheel assembly has a screen display, preferably a touch screen display. The screen display is mounted over an airbag module of the steering wheel assembly. A hinged structure holds the screen display to the steering wheel assembly. The hinged structure is configured to be pivotally attached to a center portion of the steering wheel assembly and non-obstructively movable upon deployment of an airbag. The visual display unit can be a computer or video monitor for occupant viewing while traveling in an autonomous vehicle. The visual display unit includes driver alerts activated by the autonomous vehicle. The visual display unit preferably includes vehicle instrumentation gauges, satellite navigation system, speed, temperature and other data displays.
DUCT ASSEMBLY FOR A VEHICLE HVAC SYSTEM
A vehicle dashboard includes a trim panel defining an airflow opening. At least one register duct defines a register opening. The at least one register duct is disposed adjacent to the trim panel and the register opening aligns with the airflow opening. At least one demister duct defines a demister opening. The at least one demister duct is disposed adjacent to the trim panel and the demister opening aligns with the airflow opening. A first air deflector slidably engaged with the at least one register duct. A second air deflector slidably engaged with the at least one register duct.
Arrangement, vehicle and method for having an occupant of a vehicle that is in a highly automated driving mode take over a driving task
A method for having an occupant of a vehicle that is in a highly automated driving mode take over a driving task includes the steps of determining that the occupant has taken over the driving task and, in response thereto, automatically actuating a handle element, which can change its shape, in order to affect the haptics of a rim of a steering wheel of the vehicle.
CONTEXTUAL BASED USER INTERFACE
A contextual based control interface system for a driver of a vehicle allowing a user to provide user input to more than one function, or sub-system, of the vehicle using a single input device. A display shows the selectable options for a present vehicle sub-system based on a present usage context. If a vehicle sub-system or a specific function is selected, the selectable control options for that vehicle sub-system is shown on the display. The displayed selectable options are visually distributed in the same way as the at least two user input zones. The user does not have to direct his/her line of sight directly onto the input device in order to understand how to move the finger to select one of the selectable options. The user input zones may be separated by 3-dimensional structures that provide guidance for the user's finger when moving it across the input device.
Motor vehicle steering column assembly
An assembly is disclosed, in which a rigid ramp is rigidly connected to a tubular upper part of a steering column for interaction with a displaceable part of an instrument panel. Interaction between the tubular upper part and the displaceable part moves the displaceable part in a reliable manner out of the way during an impact scenario, during which a steering wheel is displaced towards the instrument panel. Displacement of the displaceable part by the rigid ramp permits the steering wheel to be fully displaced without the instrument panel hindering such motion.
Steering wheel spinner
A steering wheel spinner is incorporated within an outer steering wheel. The spinner assembly is fashioned as an inner steering wheel secured within the circumference of the outer steering wheel. The inner steering wheel is capable of full 360 rotation relative thereto.
Method and apparatus for displaying in a vehicle
Disclosed herein is a method of activating a display device in a moving object. The method of activating a display device in a moving object may include determining a driving mode in the moving object, determining whether or not to activate a display device based on the driving mode of the moving object, and displaying an image in the display device, when the display device is activated. Herein, a display device may be activated and an airbag may be deactivated when a driving mode is a first mode. Also, a display device may be deactivated and an airbag may be activated when a driving mode is a second mode.
Head-up display control system and head-up display display method
A normal information display quantity of a head-up display device is set as a first information display quantity, an information display quantity of the head-up display device after a control unit receives a detection signal of detection of installation of a mobile terminal on a terminal holder from a mobile terminal installation detection unit is set as a second information display quantity, in which the second information display quantity is set to be smaller than the first information display quantity, and at least a part of display information that is displayed in the first information display quantity but is not displayed in the second information display quantity is displayed on the mobile terminal.
VEHICLE USER INTERFACE
A vehicle gesture control system to improve safety and comfort during driving of a vehicle, the vehicle including an adaptive cruise control or autonomous drive arrangement configured to control velocity of the vehicle and distance between the vehicle and another vehicle, the system including a plurality of sensors configured to detect gestures performed by a driver on the surface of a steering wheel grip in the vehicle, the steering wheel grip including a circular tube surrounding a steering wheel, and a processor receiving outputs from the sensors and connected to a memory unit storing instructions for the processor to activate a plurality of features of the adaptive cruise control or autonomous drive arrangement, in response to a respective plurality of different gestures detected by the sensors, one of the gestures including movement of the driver's thumb around a lateral section of the steering wheel grip that faces the driver.
