ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED TRIM ARTICLE

A headrest assembly includes a lattice matrix having a plurality of three-dimensional (3D) cells. Each 3D cell of includes a node and a plurality of links outwardly extending from the node. The lattice matrix includes a plurality of sections including a first section having a first overall elastic modulus, a second section positioned adjacent to the first section and having a second overall elastic modulus that is higher than the first overall elastic modulus of the first section, and a third section positioned adjacent to the second section and having a third overall elastic modulus that is higher than the second overall elastic modulus of the second section. The lattice matrix is integrally constructed using an additive manufacturing technique, wherein the 3D cells of each section are provided in various patterns and cured to varying degrees to provide the varying overall elastic moduli of each section of the lattice matrix.

Adjusting headrest based on predicted collision

A vehicle may receive sensor data captured by a sensor, determine that the sensor data represents an object in the environment, and determine a collision probability associated with a predicted collision between the vehicle and the object. Based at least in part on the collision probability, a position of a headrest of the vehicle may be determined relative to a head of an occupant of the vehicle. The headrest may be adjusted in one or more directions prior to occurrence of the predicted collision to minimize injury to the occupant due to the collision.

SEAT HEADREST

A seat headrest includes: a pad assembly; a main cover surrounding a rear side of the pad assembly; an upper guide coupled to the main cover and provided with an upward/downward movement guide groove formed in the upper guide and elongated upward/downward; a post stay including an upper portion inserted in the upward/downward movement guide groove; and a post holding guide, in which the lower portion of the post stay is inserted and held and which is held to a seat back frame.

Reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest
11584277 · 2023-02-21 · ·

A reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest that includes a ratchet mechanism, allowing components to incrementally translate with respect to each other. The reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest includes an exterior housing surface that is deformable, providing cushioning for a vehicle occupant's head. The headrest also includes an interior compartment within the housing, with the ratchet mechanism disposed within the interior compartment. The headrest is configured to decrease the force of a collision experienced by the occupant, thereby decreasing the likelihood and severity of traumatic brain injuries resulting from the occupant's head striking a stationary headrest. Instead, the reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest is configured to incrementally move with the occupant's head, providing an incremental cushion for the occupant's head. The ratchet mechanism also prevents the reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest from automatically translating back to its pre-impact position, thereby decreasing the occupant's risk of ligament tear and whiplash.
