A trail sight for a vehicle, according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a body configured to extend in a longitudinal direction along a length of a vehicle, wherein the body comprises a first portion fixed to a vehicle body structure and a second portion that is moveable relative to the first portion between a retracted position and a deployed position.

A vehicle safety barrier, for mounting on a vehicle, comprises a deployable barrier arm, wherein the barrier arm is configured for movement between a first, stowed position, and a second, operational position and wherein, in the second position, the barrier arm is arranged to project a predetermined distance from the vehicle to indicate a safe passing distance for another road user.

The invention includes a lighting device with a signaling module that can move in at least a first direction and a lighting module that can move in a second direction different from the first direction. The movable lighting module being able to take a position that is invisible and a position that is visible from outside the lighting device. The lighting device further including a controller designed to control a movement of the lighting module such that: in a first mode, called daytime mode, the lighting module assumes the invisible position; in a second mode, called nighttime mode, the lighting module assumes the visible position. A school bus stop arm and drive unit therefor are disclosed. The stop an includes a stop sign and a drive unit for moving the stop sign between a retracted position and a deployed position. The drive unit comprises a motor operably coupled to the stop sign, one or more position sensors operable to detect the presence of the stop sign, and a controller for controlling operation of the motor. The controller configured to, monitor one or more operating characteristics of the motor for conditions indicative of an obstruction to movement of the stop sign, monitor the position sensor for a confirmation signal indicative of the presence of the stop sign in the deployed or retracted position, and based on the conditions indicative of an obstruction and the confirmation signal, determine if the stop sign has reached one of the deployed and retracted positions or is being obstructed.

Methods and systems are provided for autonomously operating a retractable lighting arrangement. One method involves obtaining a current speed of the vehicle when the lighting arrangement is in an extended state, and when the current speed is greater than a threshold when the lighting arrangement is in the extended state, verifying one or more illumination elements associated with the lighting arrangement are in a deactivated state and thereafter automatically signaling an actuation arrangement associated with the lighting arrangement to transition the lighting arrangement from the extended state to a retracted state.

A school bus stop sign assembly for enhancing safety of children entering and exiting a school bus includes a hinging unit that is coupled to an outer wall of a school bus. The hinging unit is actuated into a deployed position and a stored position. A member is coupled to the hinging unit and the member extends outwardly from the school bus when the hinging unit is actuated into the deployed position. Thus, the member extends across a roadway on which the school bus is driving to inhibit a vehicle from passing the school bus thereby enhancing safety for children entering or exiting the school bus. A pair of video cameras is each coupled to the member to capture imagery of the environment around the member.

A speed sensitive type active hidden air curtain of a vehicle includes: hole opening or closing devices configured to cover or open an air hole of a bumper facing traveling wind with any one of a bumper interlocking device, a lamp interlocking device, and a hole color change device to guide air to a space formed between a bumper and a wheel; a power connection member interlocked with a deflector guiding the traveling wind under the bumper to move the hole opening or closing devices; and a supporter maintaining tension of the power connection member. The speed type active hidden air curtain thereby implements a clean and differentiated design image of the bumper and improves appearance quality thereof by covering the air hole exposed to the outside.
