Vehicular lighting using passive and/or active optics

A reflector unit may behave as a retroreflector to reflect light of a selected color. The reflector unit may comprise a first reflector having a first color, a second reflector having a second color, and a mask that either allows incoming light to reach the first reflector and not the second reflector or allows incoming light to reach the second reflector and not the first reflector. An active light unit may emit light of a particular color in response to receiving light. In this fashion, the active light unit may simulate the operation of a reflector. The reflector unit and the active light unit may operate on a bi-directional vehicle.

A device for signaling a vehicle encumbrance, in particular a transverse encumbrance of said vehicle, in particular usable on agricultural and/or forestry machinery or for signaling a load protruding from said vehicle, comprising means for signaling the overall dimensions and means which connect said signaling means to the same vehicle. Said means which connect said signaling means to the same vehicle are adapted to support said signaling means in respective positions, in particular transversal with respect to the same vehicle, said positions being comprised between a maximum extension position and a minimum extension position with respect to said vehicle.

LED LIGHT STICK FOR A VEHICLE

An apparatus connecting to a hitch of a vehicle. The apparatus includes a light emitting diode (LED) light stick mounted to the hitch of the vehicle via a hitch adapter. The hitch adapter configurably slides into a hitch mount of the vehicle.

Vehicle external illumination device

A directional illumination device for a vehicle external light comprises an array of light sources and an imaging waveguide comprising an input surface and a reflective end. Opposed guide surfaces are arranged to guide input light from the input surface to the reflective end and back along the waveguide after reflection at the reflective end, the waveguide being arranged to extract input light as it is guided back along the waveguide after reflection and to cause the extracted light to exit through the first guide surface. The reflective end has positive optical power in the direction laterally across the waveguide and the waveguide is arranged to direct the extracted light in respective output illumination directions distributed in a lateral direction in dependence on the input positions of the light sources in the direction laterally across the waveguide. A thin, high brightness and high efficiency controllable directional vehicle headlight is provided.

A slow moving vehicle safety device for reducing accidents involving slow moving vehicles includes a housing, which defines an interior space and which is mountable to a rear end of a slow moving vehicle. A power module, a microprocessor, and a receiver are engaged to the housing and are positioned in the interior space. The power module and the receiver are operationally engaged to the microprocessor. The receiver is Global Positioning System enabled and receives coordinates and relays the coordinates to the microprocessor, which calculates a speed of the slow moving vehicle. A plurality of bulbs, which is engaged to a rear facing facet of the housing and is operationally engaged to the microprocessor, can selectively emit light of a variety of colors. The microprocessor is enabled to selectively actuate the bulbs to emit light of a respective color based on an associated speed of the slow moving vehicle.
