Railway Vehicle and Funicular Apparatus
A funicular intended particularly for transporting heavy loads between an upstream station (10) and a downstream station (12), comprises a railway track (14) connecting the upstream station (10) to the downstream station (12) and a vehicle (16) running on the track (14) and drawn by at least one towing cable (30). The vehicle comprises a chassis (50) defining a median longitudinal vertical plane that rests on at least one pendulum running gear, comprising two independent lateral pendulum devices (60) each comprising a secondary pendulum (62) articulated in relation to the chassis (50) and two primary pendulums, each articulated in relation to the secondary pendulum (62). Each lateral pendulum device (60) comprises a plate (64) connected to the chassis (50) via one or several jacks (66) to which the secondary pendulum device (62) is articulated.

SPAN BOLSTER
A method for manufacturing a multiple axle railcar utilizing a non-stressed span bolster is disclosed. The span bolster supports the load of the railcar using camber to efficiently distribute the load from the railcar among the truck assemblies and axles. The manufacturing method discloses the fabrication and layout of a span bolster where non-stressed camber is incorporated into the structural elements of the span bolster. The camber is produced geometrically by parallelogram shaped plates supporting the weight of the railcar. The amount of camber may be modified for different load ratings. The railcar and span bolster are constructed of alloy steel to minimize railcar tare weight and maximize load capacity.

Systems and methods for balancing a single truck industrial locomotive
A bolster system and method of balancing a locomotive on a bolster system is provided. The bolster system is configured such that weld seams interconnect the locomotive to the bolster, and the weld seams are oriented such that when the truck or locomotive impacts another device on the rail track, the weld seams experience a shearing force along the lengths of the weld seams. In addition, prior to welding, scales such as hydraulic jacks with gauges may be used to center and balance a locomotive on a bolster. In one embodiment, four hydraulic jacks elevate the truck, bolster, and locomotive, and the locomotive is repositioned on the bolster until the hydraulic jacks have substantially similar measures.

Method of manufacturing a multiple axle railcar having a span bolster
A method for making a railcar having a span bolster is disclosed. The method involves fabricating and joining the components of the span bolster in a manner such that a camber is built into span bolster. A camber is cut into longitudinal supports that span the length of the bolster. A jig is used to shape top and bottom plates prior to attaching the plates to the longitudinal supports, thus forming the bolster. Truck assemblies are attached to the bolster and a railcar body mounted to the combined unit.
