Railway vehicle, coupler, and coupler body thereof

A railway vehicle, a coupler, and a coupler body thereof. The coupler body comprises an upper traction platform, a lower traction platform, a lock chamber, and a pin hole. A traction surface of an upper traction platform and/or a lower traction platform is divided into a contact area and a yielding area along the direction approaching the lock chamber, an extension face of the end of the contact area close to the lock chamber is an M2 face, and the yielding area is positioned at the side of the M2 face close to the pin hole. The yielding area is positioned on the side of the contact area next to the lock chamber and there is a gap and no contact between the yielding area and a traction platform of a coupler knuckle.

Railcar end unit

A railcar end unit is operable to be mounted in a center sill between buff and draft sill stops. The buff and draft end bodies are configured to be shiftably mounted relative to the center sill to engage the respective sill stops and to shift axially relative to one another along a unit axis. The end unit includes a buff spring pack operably mounted between the end bodies and compressible along the unit axis from a neutral condition to a compressed condition.

USE OF NO-BAKE MOLD PROCESS TO MANUFACTURE SIDE FRAME AND BOLSTER FOR A RAILWAY TRUCK

A method for casting a railroad component such as a component of a railway car truck. The component of the railway car truck may be, e.g., a side frame or a bolster of the railway car truck. The method includes manufacturing the railroad component made of steel in a no-bake manufacturing process including use of a chemically-bonded sand system that results in a sand mold from which the railroad component is cast. The railroad component resulting from the no-bake manufacturing process has a surface finish less than 750 micro-inches RMS, resulting in increased fatigue life compared to a railroad component manufactured by a green sand process.

RAILCAR COUPLER KEY RETAINER APPARATUS
20230347945 · 2023-11-02 ·

An apparatus for maintaining a railcar coupler key in position to releasably secure a railcar coupler shank to a yoke accommodated in a sill of a railcar. The railcar coupler key retainer apparatus includes an elongated key stop adapted to be releasably secured against an interior surface of a sill side wall defining an elongated slot. The key stop is configured with a flange portion which projects beyond an exterior surface of the sill side wall defining the slot. The flange portion defines a through bore having a closed margin. A retainer is mounted to the exterior surface of the sill side wall defining the elongated slot and defines a through bore which aligns with the through bore in the flange portion of the key stop when the key stop abuts with a closed end of the elongated slot defined by the side wall of the sill. A locking member is received in the through bores in the key stop and retainer to releasably secure the key stop to the interior surface of the sill side wall and thereby maintaining the railcar key retainer apparatus in position to maintain the railcar coupler key between the side walls of the sill and in position to secure the yoke to the coupler shank.
