METHOD FOR INSTALLING AT LEAST ONE MOORING LINE OF A FLOATING INSTALLATION IN A BODY OF WATER AND ASSOCIATED FLOATING INSTALLATION
The method comprises installing at least one lower section of a mooring line at the bottom of the body of water; trapping the lower section in the ground; connecting an upper unit of the floating installation to the mooring line. The lower section being constituted by a chain, the chain defining, after the connection of the upper unit, a lower end of the mooring line not provided with a mooring point pre-mounted on the mooring line, in particular an anchor or pile.
Floating parking barge for vehicles
A floating parking barge includes a floatable hull and a housing. The hull includes a bow end, a stern end, and a support surface extending from the bow end to the stern end. The housing is mounted on the support surface and includes a frame and cladding. The frame includes side supports and top supports, and the cladding is supported on the frame and encloses the frame such that the housing defines a housing space configured to accommodate a plurality of vehicles. The cladding covering the side supports extends at an angle relative to the support surface that is less than 90 degrees.
Corrosion-and-chafing-resistant, buoy system and method
A buoy and mooring system provides a robust buoy protective of markings thereon, easily retrieved for inspection and service, weighted and levered for maintaining self-righting, vertical orientation and anchored with a non-corroding system of connectors and links running from surface to sea floor. A mid-line float resists entanglement, and can be installed or uninstalled by operation of various worm grip mechanisms. A slack line region accommodates changing tides. An upright tube, weighted at a lower end and flanged at an upper end thereof, secures a buoy in place but pulls up through the buoy for easy retrieval by boat crews. Embedding an anchor is by hydraulic water jet drilling. From a thimble in the anchor to a thimble in the upright at the buoy, no intervening metal components are needed in the load path. Markings are durably and protectively embedded in recesses below the buoy's outer surface.
Portable inflatable habitat with modular payload, system and method
A diving apparatus for a diver underwater includes a portable habitat in which a breathable environment is maintained underwater. The habitat has a collapsible envelope. The collapsible envelope takes shape through inflation to an expanded state underwater. The habitat has a modular payload which removably attaches to the envelope underwater. The habitat has a seat on which a diver can sit while the habitat is underwater. The modular payload has a breathable gas source to provide breathable gas for the diver to breathe in the habitat and a carbon dioxide scrubber which removes carbon dioxide from the environment when the habitat is underwater. The apparatus has an anchor mechanism attached to the habitat to maintain the habitat at a desired depth underwater. A method for a diver to dive underwater. A system for supporting a diver underwater. A diving apparatus having a propulsion unit. An apparatus for a user in outer space or on another planet.
Method of installing a foundation in the sea bed and such foundation
The invention relates to a seabed foundation (1) for an offshore facility, comprising a primary pressure chamber (7) connected to a primary pump (8) and one or more secondary pressure chambers (9) connected to one or more secondary pumps (10). According to an embodiment of the invention, said primary pump is a suction pump and said secondary pump is a pressure pump. The invention further relates to a method (12) of installing said foundation on the seabed (19), which comprises the steps of activating (14) said primary pump to create negative pressure in the primary pressure chamber (7), so that the foundation sinks into the seabed, and activating (15) said one or more secondary pumps (10) to create positive pressures in the secondary pressure chambers (9), so as to control the alignment of the foundation with respect to a substantially horizontal axis (16) during the sinking into the seabed.
Suction anchor
A suction anchor for a remotely operated vehicle comprising a frame attachable to a remotely operated vehicle, anchor cans beneath the frame beneath and connectable to a pump. In particular the anchor can be deployed as part of a method for sampling or measuring the seabed comprising the steps of attaching a frame to the remotely operated vehicle, the frame having one or more downwardly mounted anchor cans and a mast to which sampling and/or measuring equipment is attached, placing the anchor cans on an underwater floor, and, at least in partially, evacuating the cans of water embedding them in part into the underwater floor, sampling and/or measuring the underwater floor using the sampling and/or measuring equipment. It can be used to mount other sensor equipment requiring a stable platform.
