An example labeling method includes obtaining a multi-dimensional representation of the item, determining a label target position in the representation, and controlling a labeling station to affix the label at the label target position on the item.

The robotic labeling system includes a label application system having a labeling device and label applicator that prepares and applies a shipping label and a customer specific label to the package based on the content data stored in the package database. The robotic labeling system may verify the applied labels based on the scanned data on the package and either discharging or rejecting the package based on the scanned data.
