Lightning protection system for external floating roof tank
A floating roof system with lightning protection includes a storage tank and a floating roof disposed inside the storage tank. A shoe seal is installed in sealing contact with an inner side wall surface of the storage tank. A primary seal extends between a rim of the floating roof and the shoe seal. A secondary seal extends over the primary seal and has an end in sealing contact with the inner side wall surface of the storage tank. Several shunts are distributed along a perimeter of the floating roof. The shunts extend over the primary seal and under the secondary seal. The shunts are attached to the primary seal and shoe seal by connections distributed along the shoe seal. The shunts are also attached to the primary seal, the secondary seal, and the rim of the floating roof by connections distributed along the rim.
COATED FABRIC SEAL AND RELATED METHODS
A storage system for a petroleum product and related methods includes a vapor barrier including at least one layer having an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene material configured to inhibit absorption of a petroleum product therethrough. Such vapor barrier may be a coated fabric with the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene material and be configured to fluidly seal against a surface. The vapor barrier is further configured to be incorporated into any such storage system, which further includes a floating roof seal, a tank liner seal, and/or a leg boot seal.

RIM SEAL FLAMMABLE LIQUID STORAGE TANK
A rim seal for a flammable liquid storage tank is provided. The rim seal forms a vapor impermeable barrier with passive fire-suppressing capabilities provided by layers of buoyant members that suppress flammable vapors to prevent fires. The buoyant and fire-retardant members are contained within a closed flexible membrane. The closed flexible membrane contains one or more layers of the buoyant members. The closed flexible membrane and the buoyant members therein extend across the gap formed between an outer circumferential edge of a floating roof and the inner wall of the liquid storage tank. The buoyant members form the layers under the influence of gravity. The buoyant members are formed from a material which is resistant to hydrocarbon degradation, and which is flame retardant and vapor suppressing. The layers of the buoyant members form a passive fire protective barrier between the flammable liquid in the storage tank and the atmosphere.
