Overspeed safety mechanism for lift car

An overspeed safety braking mechanism for lift cars and elevator systems is described herein. The safety mechanism may comprise a safety kit secured to an overhead portion of a lift car, and configured to engage a cable to prevent a downward movement of the lift car. Engagement of the cable may occur when a threshold speed is reached. The overhead portion of the lift car is detachable upon a predetermined upward force resulting from an engagement of the safety cable from the safety kit. A primary brake system may be positioned beneath the safety kit, on or near a lift platform, configured to engage the safety cable in response to an activation of the safety kit and a detection of the threshold speed.

ELEVATOR ARRANGEMENT WITH MULTIPLE CARS IN THE SAME SHAFT

The invention relates to an elevator arrangement with multiple elevator cars in the same elevator shaft, the arrangement at least an uppermost elevator with its operating system, hoisting machinery and elevator car, and a lowermost elevator with its operating system, hoisting machinery and elevator car, which elevator cars are arranged to run in the same elevator shaft along the same guide rails. The types of the two elevators in the same elevator shaft are mutually different from each other.

Tensioning arrangement for a traction means of an elevator

The object of the invention is a tensioning arrangement for a traction means of an elevator, which arrangement comprises at least an elevator car configured to move up and down in an elevator hoistway and at least one or more compensating weights, which are for their part connected to support the elevator car by the aid of their own support means, such as by the aid of ropes or belts and also of diverting pulleys, and a hoisting machine provided with at least one traction sheave or corresponding, and also at least one traction means (7) such as a belt, rope or chain, which is configured to transmit the rotational movement of the traction sheave into movement of the elevator car and of the compensating weights. The traction means (7) is fixed from at least one of its ends to a fixing means (1) providing an essentially constant tensioning force.

ELEVATOR SYSTEM HAVING TWO ELEVATOR CARS IN A COMMON SHAFT

An elevator installation includes a first elevator car disposed in a shaft and connected to a counterweight by a first suspension having a first suspension means section, and a second suspension having a second suspension means section. A drive unit moves the elevator car by means of the first suspension. The elevator installation also includes a second elevator car that is movable in the shaft, independently of the first elevator car, via a second drive unit.

An elevator includes a car, a counterweight, and a hoisting member connecting the car with the counterweight over a traction sheave. A free fall protection system includes a free fall protection controller, a free fall protection member connecting the car with the counterweight over the traction sheave or over a separate free fall sheave. The car and the counterweight are supported by the hoisting member in normal operation and by the free fall protection member only in a situation in which the hoisting member support fails. At least one free fall protection brake is arranged to stop the movement of the free fall protection member and thereby also the movement of the car and/or the counterweight, when being activated by the free fall protection controller.
