11691848 · 2023-07-04 · ·

The invention relates to a safety brake for an elevator, a centrifugal regulator and a way of using this in a safety brake. According to the invention, the safety brake comprises a centrifugal regulator (3), a shaft (4), which rotates due to a coupling (5) to the elevator, a first (6) and a second (8) brake part movable against each other with friction surfaces (10, 11), the first brake part being rotatable with the shaft, a spring assembly (30) with which the brake parts are spring-biased with a pressure force, on release the centrifugal regulator is provided to couple the shaft (4) to the first brake part (6) to force rotation on it. The safety brake is self-regulating by comprising the pressure-relieving arrangement provided, due to the rotation of the shaft (4), to relieve the spring biasing by pressing the first brake part (6) towards the spring assembly's (30) spring action and thus from the other brake part (8), until a balanced position is obtained whereby both brake parts (6, 8) frictionally slide against each other.

Abseiling device

The invention relates to an abseiling device comprising a bidirectionally rotatable guiding arrangement (25) for guiding a pulling means (26); further comprising a braking mechanism (30) that is coupled to the guiding arrangement (25); a driving means (34; 35) can be connected to the guiding arrangement (25) so as to actuate the guiding arrangement (25). In order to create an abseiling device that prevents an individual from being injured or parts of the abseiling device from being damaged during rescue operations in particular of people, a mechanical torque limiter (33) decouples the driving means (34; 35) and the guiding arrangement (25) or the pulling means (26) when the torque exceeds a certain threshold value.

A spool may include a drum rotatably supported on an axle shaft and flanges integrally formed with opposite ends of the drum. The drum has a continuous groove on the outer surface of the drum to guide the movement of the safety wireline. Both of the flanges may include an opening, internal threads circumscribing the opening, and a plurality of mechanical brakes. Each of the mechanical brakes may include a rotor rotatably supported on the axle shaft of the spool and a pawl arranged within the opening. The pawl is pivotally linked to the rotor such that when the rotation of the axle shaft is in a direction and at a rotation speed that exceeds a threshold then the pawl is moved by centrifugal force and engages with the internal threads circumscribing the opening and does not permit the spool to rotate.
