According to the present invention, there is provided a copper/ceramic bonded body including: a copper member made of copper or a copper alloy; and a ceramic member made of silicon-containing ceramics, the copper member and the ceramic member being bonded to each other, in which a maximum indentation hardness in a region is set to be in a range of 70 mgf/μm.sup.2 or more and 150 mgf/μm.sup.2 or less, the region being from 10 μm to 50 μm with reference to a bonded interface between the copper member and the ceramic member toward the copper member side.
Brazed joint and semiconductor processing chamber component having the same
Methods of forming a metallic-ceramic brazed joint are disclosed herein. The method of forming the brazed joint includes deoxidizing the surface of metallic components, assembling the joint, heating the joint to fuse the joint components, and cooling the joint. In certain embodiments, the brazed joint includes a conformal layer. In further embodiments, the brazed joint has features in order to reduce stress concentrations within the joint.

An improved ceramic material for heat insulation with selection of specific stabilizers and adapted proportions, includes zirconium oxide with 0.2 wt. % to 8.0 wt. % of the base stabilizers: yttrium oxide (Y.sub.2O.sub.3), hafnium oxide (HfO.sub.2), cerium oxide (CeO.sub.2), calcium oxide (CaO), and/or magnesium oxide (MgO), wherein at least yttrium oxide (Y.sub.2O.sub.3) is used, and optionally at least one of the additional stabilizers: 0.2 wt. % to 20 wt. % of erbium oxide (Er.sub.2O.sub.3) and/or ytterbium oxide (Yb.sub.2O.sub.3).

A solder material (30) for bonding a metal layer (20) to a ceramic layer (10), in particular for forming a metal-ceramic substrate as a carrier for electrical components, comprising: a base material and an active metal, wherein the solder material (30) is a foil comprising the base material in a first layer (31) and the active metal in a second layer (32), and wherein the foil has a total thickness (GD) which is less than 50 μm, preferably less than 25 μm and particularly preferably less than 15 μm.

A light generator comprises a light conversion device and a light source arranged to apply a light beam to the light conversion element. The light conversion device includes an optoceramic or other solid phosphor element comprising one or more phosphors embedded in a ceramic, glass, or other host, a metal heat sink, and a solder bond attaching the optoceramic phosphor element to the metal heat sink. The optoceramic phosphor element does not undergo cracking in response to the light source applying a light beam of beam energy effective to heat the optoceramic phosphor element to the phosphor quenching point.

A method for the joining of ceramic pieces with a hermetically sealed joint comprising brazing a layer of joining material between the two pieces. The ceramic pieces may be aluminum nitride or other ceramics, and the pieces may be brazed with Nickel and an alloying element, under controlled atmosphere. The completed joint will be fully or substantially Nickel with another element in solution. The joint material is adapted to later withstand both the environments within a process chamber during substrate processing, and the oxygenated atmosphere which may be seen within the interior of a heater or electrostatic chuck. Semiconductor processing equipment comprising ceramic and joined with a nickel alloy and adapted to withstand processing chemistries, such as fluorine chemistries, as well as high temperatures.

High temperature electrochemical cell structures, and methods for making
An electrochemical cell is described, including an anodic chamber and a cathodic chamber separated by an electrolyte separator tube, all contained within a cell case. The cell also includes an electrically insulating ceramic collar positioned at an opening of the cathodic chamber, and defining an aperture in communication with the opening; along with a cathode current collector assembly; and at least one metallic ring that has a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) in the range of about 3 to about 7.5 ppm/° C., contacting at least a portion of a metallic component within the cell, and an adjacent ceramic component. An active braze alloy composition attaches and hermetically seals the ring to the metallic component and the collar. Sodium metal halide batteries that contain this type of cell are also described, along with methods for sealing structures within the cell.
