METHODS OF MAKING POROUS DEVICES FROM MONODISPERSE POPULATIONS OF POLYARYLKETONE OR POLYARYLTHIOETHERKETONE PARTICLES
The invention provides methods for making porous devices from substantially monodisperse populations of substantially spherical particles of polyarylketone polymers or of thio-analogues of such polymers, of selected sizes. The porous devices allow greater control of porosity than previously available porous devices. In some embodiments, the porous devices are frits, filters, membranes or monoliths.
METHODS OF MAKING MONODISPERSE POPULATIONS OF POLYARYLKETONE OR POLYARYLTHIOETHERKETONE PARTICLES
The invention provides methods for making substantially monodisperse populations of substantially spherical particles of polyarylketone polymers or of thio-analogues of such polymers, of selected sizes. Populations of such particles can be used, for example, to form porous devices with greater control of porosity than previously available. In some embodiments, the porous devices are frits, filters, membranes or monoliths.
FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND BONDED BODY
A fiber-reinforced composite material includes a matrix resin, and reinforcing fibers, in which the matrix resin includes a polyaryl ketone resin and a resin having a nitrogen atom in a repeating structural unit. A surface of the fiber-reinforced composite material includes a portion in which a contact angle with water is 60° or less.
INSULATED CONDUCTORS
The invention relates to an insulated conductor comprising an elongate conductor provided with an insulating layer which comprises a polymeric material. Said polymeric material has a crystallinity of at least 25% and includes a repeat unit of general formula
##STR00001##
wherein t1 and w1 independently represent 0 or 1 and v1 represents 0, 1 or 2. The insulating layer has a thickness in the range 2 μm-300 μm.
PAEK/PPSU/PES Compositions
A composition [composition (C)] comprising from 1 to 90% by weight (wt. %) of at least one poly(aryl ether ketone) [(PAEK) polymer], from 1 to 25 wt. % of at least one polyphenylsulfone polymer [(PPSU) polymer], from 1 to 90 wt. % of at least one polyethersulfone polymer [(PES)polymer], and from 0.1 to 50 wt. % of at least one reinforcing filler, where all wt. % are based on the total weight of the composition (C) and the (PES) polymer has as melt flow rate(MFR) at a temperature of 380° C. and under a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238 of greater than 35 g/10 min.
BIOACTIVE COMPOSITES WITH FUNCTION OF RADIOPACITY
A bioactive composite includes 10% to 40% by weight of calcium sulfate (CaSO.sub.4), 10% to 20% by weight of tantalum pentoxide (Ta.sub.2O.sub.5), and 40% to 80% of polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Calcium sulfate is anhydrous calcium made by removing crystallization water of beta calcium sulfate hemihydrate.
POWDER COMPOSITION, COATING FILM, AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL SHAPED ARTICLE
A powder composition containing an aromatic polyetherketone resin (I) and a fluorine-containing copolymer (II). The powder composition has a ratio r2/r1 of 1.60 or lower, wherein r1 represents an average dispersed particle size of the fluorine-containing copolymer (II) and r2 represents an average dispersed particle size of the fluorine-containing copolymer (II) after melt flow rate measurement at 380° C. and a load of 5000 g with 5-minute pre-heating in conformity with ASTM D1238.
POLYARYLETHERKETONE RESIN COMPOSITION, FIBER-REINFORCED RESIN BASE MATERIAL, AND MOLDED ARTICLE
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a polyaryletherketone resin composition having excellent toughness and fluidity, a fiber-reinforced resin base material having excellent impregnating ability and toughness, and a molded article thereof. In order to solve said problem, the present invention has the following compositional make-up. A polyaryletherketone resin composition containing, with respect to (A) 100 parts by mass of a polyaryletherketone, (B) 1-100 parts by mass of a liquid crystalline polyester, wherein the polyaryletherketone resin composition forms a sea-island structure, and the average diameter of the island phases is 10-1000 nm.
Polyarylether ketone copolymer
The invention pertains to certain copolymers (PEDEK/PEEK), comprising a majority of “PEDEK”-type recurring units, which, thanks to the predominance of PEDEK-type units, their structural homogeneity and regularity, and absence of chlorinated end groups, possess a suitable molecular structure and crystallization behaviour so as to deliver improved mechanical properties and outstanding chemical resistance, and which are useful in numerous fields of endeavours, including notably in the oil&gas industry, and more specifically for the manufacture of parts used in oil and gas extraction systems.
Polymeric insulating films
Insulating films suitable for use in magnet wire, electrical machines, and other applications may include at least one layer formed from extruded material. The extruded material may include a blend of a first polymeric material and a second polymeric material different than the first polymeric material. The first polymeric material may include one of polyetheretherketone, polyaryletherketone, polyetherketoneketone, polyphenylsulfone, polyphenylene sulfide, or polybenzimidazole, and the second polymeric material may include one of polyphenylsulfone, polyetherimide, polyethersulfone, polyphenylene sulfide, polycarbonate, or polyester.
