Formaldehyde free microspheres and encapsulation

Processes for producing polymer microcapsules using vicinal functional oligomers are also described. The vicinal functional oligomers can be made by polymerizing an acrylate monomer, a styrene monomer, or both in the presence of a chain transfer agent. The vicinal functional oligomers can be reacted with epichlorohydrin to form vicinal epoxies. The vicinal epoxies can be reacted with polyamines to form epoxy polymer microspheres. The vicinal epoxies can be reacted with carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst to form vicinal cyclic carbonates. The vicinal cyclic carbonates can be reacted with polyamines to form isocyanate-free polymer microspheres. Polymer microspheres made by the processes are also described.

A hardcoat film includes a substrate; a hardcoat layer; and an anti-scratch layer, where the hardcoat layer includes a cured product of polyorganosilsesquioxane, the polyorganosilsesquioxane has a siloxane constitutional unit containing a (meth)acryloyl group and a siloxane constitutional unit containing an epoxy group and is represented by the General Formula (1), a film thickness of the anti-scratch layer is 0.05 to 5 μm, and the anti-scratch layer includes a cured product of a compound having two or more (meth)acryloyl groups in one molecule, where Ra represents a group containing a (meth)acryloyl group; Rb represents a group containing an epoxy group; Rc represents a monovalent substituent; p, q, and r represent a proportion of Ra, Rb, and Rc in the General Formula (1) respectively; p+q+r is 100; p and q are greater than 0; r is equal to or greater than 0; p/q is 0.01 to 99.

Transparent resin substrate

A transparent resin substrate composed of a light-transmitting resin base sheet, and an underlying layer, a hard coat layer, and an antireflection coating formed sequentially on the base sheet. The antireflection coating includes a medium refractive index layer on the hard coat layer, and a low refractive index layer on the medium refractive index layer. The underlying layer is a cured product of a hexa- or higher functional urethane acrylate monomer. The hard coat layer is a cured product of a hard coat layer composition containing a polymerizable monomer containing 50% by mass or more of a tri- or lower functional urethane acrylate monomer, silica particles, a silane coupling agent, and a metal chelate compound. The medium refractive index layer is a cured product of a medium refractive index layer composition. The low refractive index layer is a particle-free cured product of a low refractive index layer composition.
