Addition and condensation polymers prepared from halogenated reactants
Polymers containing halogen functionality are prepared by the addition or condensation polymerization of at least one halogenated reactant containing at least two active hydrogen-containing functional groups per molecule and at least one halogenated heteroalkyl or halogenated heteroalkenyl group per molecule and at least one co-reactant containing at least two functional groups reactive with the active hydrogen groups of the at least one halogenated reactant.
POLYESTER, POLYESTERAMIDE, AND POLYAMIDE COMPOSITIONS
Linear, comb, and star shaped non-ionic polyesters and copolyesters, polyesteramides, polyamides, and copolyamides may be synthesized from the condensation polymerization of polyacids containing alpha-hydroxy polyacids and diols and/or polyols, and amino-diols and/or amines using boric acid, boric anhydride, and boronic acids as catalysts. Depending on the polyol, polyamine, and amino alcohol component, the resulting compound may be hydrophilic or hydrophobic, but not water soluble or dispersible, enabling use in packaging films, fibers, and other molded articles. The compounds may be completely water soluble, water dispersible, and/or amphipathic, thus being useful in cosmetics, agricultural compositions, biomedical and pharmaceutical applications.
Waterborne, UV Curable Coating Composition For Easy-Clean Coatings
The invention relates to an aqueous dispersion of a carboxyl-functional, unsaturated polyester containing a perfluoropolyether block prepared by the following steps: a) subjecting a carboxyl-terminated perfluoropolyether C to a reaction with an ethylenically unsaturated epoxy-functional compound D in the presence of compound E, which is a carboxylic acid or anhydride with functionality of at least 2, to obtain carboxyl-functional, unsaturated polyester F, b) neutralizing carboxyl-functional, unsaturated polyester F with a neutralizer G and dispersing it in water. The dispersion can be used to prepare a waterborne, UV-curable coating composition and used for easy-clean coatings for various substrates.
MULTI-BLOCK COPOLYMER COMPOSITIONS
Methods of making multi-block copolymer that reduce the tendency for large phase domains to form provide copolymer compositions that are useful for various applications, including the manufacture of medical devices.
RADIATION CURABLE COMPOSITIONS
The present invention relates to a radiation curable composition comprising: (I) A radiation curable component comprising a compound having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group and (II) A chlorinated polyester component that is prepared from (A) A polyol component which is substantially free of any Bisphenol A derivative compound and which is substantially free of any cyclic ether polyol compound, said polyol component comprising a polyol compound (Ai) which is cyclic and which has at least two hydroxyl groups, and (B) A polycarboxylic acid component comprising a compound (Bi) having at least one chlorine group and at least two carboxyl groups, (C) optionally at least one monoalcohol compound, (D) optionally at least one monocarboxylic acid compound, (III) optionally at least one polycarboxylic acid compound substantially free of chlorine groups.
