The invention relates to a method for producing particles of mineral material comprising grinding of at least one mineral material in the presence of water. The grinding according to the invention is carried out in the presence of at least one polymer obtained by a radical polymerization reaction of a partial sodium salt of itaconic acid and partial decarboxylation of the polymer obtained followed by partial or total neutralization of the decarboxylated polymer. The invention also relates to an aqueous composition comprising particles of ground mineral material and such a polymer, in particular a mass-loading composition for the production of paper or a paper-coating-colour composition.

Super-liquid-repellent coating film and curable composition for forming super-liquid-repellent coating film

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a super-liquid-repellent coating film that has improved abrasion resistance. Provided as a means for solving the problem is a coating film that has a fluorine atom content of 1 to 60 wt %, the coating film having a surface that has an average surface roughness Ra of 0.5 to 20, a surface area ratio of 1.7 to 5, a contact angle with water of 150° or more, a contact angle with n-hexadecane of 80° or more, and a surface that has a contact angle with water of 150° or more after being rubbed 100 times with a PET film under a load of 100 g.

The disclosure relates to sidechain functionalized organosiloxane compounds comprising polyalkyleneoxide (POA) and/or polyalkyleneoxide coupled zwitterionic moieties with various other modular side chains including reactive and or non-reactive groups. The present disclosure further also pertains to ice-phobic polymer formulations capable of curing on a substrate to form a surface that is ice-phobic, resistant to ice formation, and/or resistant to ice adhesion. The disclosed ice-phobic polymer formulations comprise one or more disclosed sidechain functionalized organosiloxane compound, one or more binder resin, and/or one or more lubricating liquid. The present disclosure further relates to articles comprising the disclosed ice-phobic polymer compositions, thereby providing articles having ice-phobic properties. There is provided a spherical organic-inorganic composite particle having good biodegradability. The organic-inorganic composite particle according to the present invention includes 1 to 79% by weight of a silica component and 21 to 99% by weight of a biodegradable plastic. The organic-inorganic composite particle has an average particle diameter d.sub.1 of 0.5 to 25 μm, a true density of 1.03 to 2.00 g/cm.sup.3, and a sphericity of 0.80 or more. A cosmetic product including the organic-inorganic composite particle having such properties has excellent texture properties.

Disclosed herein is a turf filler comprising a plurality of inorganic particles having a size of less than or equal to about 10 mesh at least partially encapsulated within a coating composition comprising a copolymer comprising one or more C.sub.2-C.sub.20 olefinic monomers and monomers of an ethylenically unsaturated ester of a C.sub.2-C.sub.10 carboxylic acid, wherein at least a first portion of the plurality of the particles further comprises a colorant, and a second portion of the plurality of particles is essentially free of a colorant. A method of producing the turf filler is also disclosed.

SURFACE MODIFIED KAOLIN PIGMENT AND METHOD THEREOF

Provided herein are surface treated pigments and methods of making and using the surface treated pigments. The surface treated pigments can comprise a mineral pigment surface treated with a hydrophilic latex composition and a hydrophobic material, which produce a film on an outer surface of the pigment. The hydrophobic material can be selected from a silane, a siloxane, or a siloxane/silicone resin blend, wax, fatty acid, styrene-butadiene latex, or a mixture thereof. The hydrophilic latex composition can be selected from a straight (meth)acrylic latex emulsion, a styrene-(meth)acrylic latex emulsion, or a blend thereof. The surface treated pigment has a surface energy that is less than a surface energy of the mineral pigment alone, a water contact angle of at least 90° and a dodecane contact angle of less than 150°.
