Method for the preparation of 2,4-dihydroxybutyrate

A method for the preparation of 2,4-dihydroxybutyric acid from homoserine includes a first step of conversion of the primary amino group of homoserine to a carbonyl group to obtain 2-oxo-4-hydroxybutyrate, and a second step of reduction of the obtained 2-oxo-4-hydroxybutyrate (OHB) to 2,4-dihydroxybutyrate.

Bioproduction of phenethyl alcohol, aldehyde, acid, amine, and related compounds

This invention relates to the bioproduction of substituted or unsubstituted phenylacetaldehyde, 2-phenylethanol, phenylacetic acid or phenylethylamine by subjecting a starting material comprising glucose, L-phenylalanine, substituted L-phenylalanine, styrene or substituted styrene to a plurality of enzyme catalyzed chemical transformations in a one-pot reaction system, using recombinant microbial cells overexpressing the enzymes. To produce phenylacetaldehyde from styrene, the cells are modified to overexpress styrene monooxygenase (SMO) and styrene oxide isomerase (SOI). To produce phenylacetic acid from styrene, SMO, SOI and aldehyde dehydrogenase are overexpressed. Alternatively, to produce 2-phenylethanol, SMO, SOI and aldehyde reductase or alcohol dehydrogenase are overexpressed, while to produce phenylethylamine, SMO, SOI and transaminase are overexpressed.

Provided herein, among other things, is an engineered non-plant cell that produces a tropane alkaloid product, a precursor of a tropane alkaloid product, or a derivative of a tropane alkaloid product. A method for producing a tropane alkaloid, a precursor of a tropane alkaloid product, or a derivative of a tropane alkaloid product that makes use of the cell is also described.

Methionine-producing yeast

A method of the bio-production of methionine and/or of its derivatives thereof from a reduced source of sulfur, such as MeSH or MeSNa including genetically modified yeasts, having an increased ability to produce methionine and/or its derivatives thereof, as compared to the parent yeasts.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING 2-METHYL-BUTYRIC ACID BY BACTERIAL FERMENTATION

The present invention provides a method for producing 2-methyl-butyric acid by fermentation using a bacterium belonging to the order Enterobacterales which has been modified to attenuate expression of a tyrB gene encoding a protein having tyrosine aminotransferase activity. The method also allows for production of a byproduct substance of 2-methyl-butyric acid during fermentation of the Enterobacterales bacterium having 2-methyl-butyric acid-producing ability.
