AIRCRAFT FLOORING SYSTEM
20230008093 · 2023-01-12 ·

An aircraft flooring system is provided, made up of a low-weight carpet tile which functions both as a moisture barrier and as the loop part of a hook-and-loop system, for coupling to a hook part of a hook-and-loop system, which is bound to an aircraft floor. Specifically, a barrier backing within the carpet tile, comprising a nonwoven fabric portion, is able to act as the moisture barrier and the loop part, which allows for coupling of the carpet tile with the floor, without the need to add additional loops to the carpet tile, thereby realizing savings in material cost and weight.

A METHOD TO MANUFACTURE A TEXTILE PRODUCT, A USE THEREOF AND A DEVICE FOR APPLYING THE METHOD
20180002863 · 2018-01-04 ·

The invention pertains to a method to manufacture a textile product comprising a first sheet having polyester yarns fastened to this sheet to form a pile thereon, the method comprising providing the sheet, stitching the polyester yarns through the sheet to form the pile on a first surface of the sheet and loops of the yarns at a second surface of the sheet, contacting the second surface of the sheet with a surface of a hot body to at least partly melt the loops of the yarns to fasten the yarns to the sheet, wherein the second surface is actively cooled to force the temperature to be below the glass transition temperature of the polyester yarns within 60 seconds after the contacting of the second surface with the hot body. The invention also pertains to a device for applying this method.

INTERIOR TRIM PART OF AN AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLE COMPRISING A VELVET FONT LAYER
20180009357 · 2018-01-11 ·

An interior trim part made by a method that includes the steps of bringing a fiber web onto a conveyor, needlepunching the fiber web to form a base in contact with the conveyor, and introducing a binder component on the base. The binder component introduced on the base is a thermoplastic polymer in solid form. The method includes a step for heating the base to cause the thermoplastic polymer making up the binder component to penetrate the base over a thickness smaller than the thickness of the base.

Carpet Tile, and Carpet Covering Made of Such Carpet Tiles

Carpet tile which includes a base layer having a top side and a bottom side, wherein preferably pile yarns are provided on the top side of the base layer, and a backing layer fixedly connected to the bottom side of the base layer. The backing layer constitutes a bottom surface of the carpet tile, wherein on the bottom surface of the carpet tile an adhesive is applied, and wherein the adhesive imparts adhesive properties to the bottom surface which are sufficient to allow the bottom surface to be attached to a suitable support surface, as well as to be detached from the same support surface onto which it has been attached previously.

USING A POLYOL MIXTURE COMPRISING PBD FOR CREATING A PU-BASED ARTIFICIAL TURF

A method of manufacturing an artificial turf includes creating fluid polyurethane mass. The creation including reacting first and second polyols with an isocyanate. The first polyol is a polyether polyol and/or a polyester polyol having at least 2 hydroxyl groups per molecule, the second polyol being polybutadien diol. The isocyanate including isocyanate monomers, isocyanate polymers or isocyanate prepolymers or a mixture thereof, the isocyanate monomers, isocyanate polymers and the isocyanate prepolymers having two or more isocyanate groups per molecule. The method further includes incorporating an artificial turf fiber into a carrier such that a first portion of the fiber protrudes to the front side of the carrier and that a second portion of the fiber is located at the back side of the carrier, adding the fluid polyurethane mass on the back side of the carrier, and hardening the fluid polyurethane mass.

Floor coverings and floor covering systems and methods of making and installing same

Floor coverings having a greige good, an adhesive layer, and a secondary backing material. The greige good has a primary backing component having adjoined first and second portions, and a plurality of fibers. The secondary backing material has an attached portion and a first exposable portion, with the attached portion adhered to the first portion of the primary backing component by contact with the adhesive layer. The second portion of the primary backing component is unattached to the first exposable portion of the secondary backing material, and the first exposable portion defines a portion of the first end edge of the floor covering. The second portion of the primary backing component is selectively moveable relative to the first portion to a position in which at least a portion of the second portion of the primary backing component does not overlie the first exposable portion of the secondary backing material.

Scrim-reinforced cushion mat for carpet tiles

A carpet tile includes a textile top member and a cushion mat that is coupled with the textile top member via a thermoplastic material. The textile top member includes carpet yarns and a backing that is coupled with the carpet yarns so that the backing structurally supports the carpet yarns. The cushion mat includes a polymeric material component having polymer fibers that are randomly oriented and entangled together and a scrim reinforcement that is disposed within the polymeric material component. The scrim reinforcement reinforces and stabilizes the polymeric material component and is entirely covered and concealed by the intermeshed polymer fibers.
