RETROFIT INTELLIGENT COMPACTION ANALYZER
20230020213 · 2023-01-19 ·

A method, apparatus and system for providing an estimate of the level of compaction of a layer of pavement materials in real time. In some embodiments, a Retrofit Intelligent Compaction Analyzer (RICA) processor of a RICA device receives vibrational energy data from a sensor module which corresponds to impact responses of a drum of a roller machine during compaction of a pavement material over a section of pavement. The RICA processor also receives temperature data from the sensor module, determines an estimated level of compaction in real time of the section of pavement based on the vibrational energy data, pavement material characteristics data and the temperature data, and displays a density level percentage of the section of pavement on a display device for viewing by an operator of the roller machine.

Directional vibration control apparatus for compactor drum with single eccentric

A directional vibration control apparatus, which includes a tunable vibration absorber (TVA) for a vibratory compactor machine is provided. The TVA includes a frame mounting structure that is configured to mechanically interface with a frame of the vibratory compactor to provide a fixed attachment of the TVA to the frame of the vibratory compactor, a TVA carrier that extends from the frame mounting structure into an interior portion of a drum of the vibratory compactor machine, a resilient element that includes a first portion that is fixedly attached relative to the TVA carrier and a second portion that includes a degree of freedom of movement relative to the TVA carrier, and a mass that is attached to the second portion of the resilient element and that includes the degree of freedom of movement relative to the TVA carrier.

Vibratory compactor unit
11549228 · 2023-01-10 · ·

A compaction unit configured for use in the compaction of a surface in connection with construction, excavation and other earth-working or related activities. The compaction unit may be configured as an attachment that can be interchangeably attached to various types of construction machines, operating machines and equipment (such as, but not limited to excavators, backhoes and the like). The compaction unit may be configured as single compaction device capable of performing any combination of (i) vibratory compaction, (ii) roller compaction, (iii) and plate compaction. These capabilities enable the unit to function as a single attachment that can operate as a roller compaction wheel, a vibrating roller compaction wheel, and a vibratory compaction plate depending on the desired application and requirements of the operator.

A soil compactor includes at least one compactor roller, which is free to rotate about an axis of rotation of the roller, with a plurality of roller segments, which follow one another along the direction of the axis of rotation of the roller. In each case, at least one electromotive drive for producing an oscillating torque is assigned to each roller segment.

ASPHALT COMPACTOR BIRDS EYE CAMERA INTEGRATION

A compactor machine can include a machine frame; at least one cylindrical roller drum rotatably coupled to the machine frame and rotatable about a drum axis oriented generally transverse to a direction of travel of the compactor machine; a plurality of cameras mounted to the machine frame so as to provide a 360° bird's eye view of an area around the machine; a display showing the 360° bird's eye view; and a controller; wherein, the controller is configured to determine certain conditions regarding a compacting operation of the compactor machine and the controller overlays a highlight symbol on the 360° bird's eye view on the display notifying a machine operator of the certain conditions.

Systems and Methods of Visual Guidance

A method includes performing, with a compacting machine, a first pass to compact a first portion of a work area to compact a first lane. A guidance system acquires position information representing the first compacted lane. A second pass is performed to compact a second portion of the work area adjacent the first portion. The guidance system acquires current position information of the machine representing current positioning of the machine during the second pass. Comparing the position information of the machine representing the first compacted lane with the current position information, determines whether the current positioning overlaps the first compacted lane a specified amount. When the second pass is determined to overlap the first compacted lane, in-compliance visual indicia is generated. When the second pass is determined to not overlap the first compacted lane with the specified amount, out of compliance visual indicia is generated.
